It has been very unseasonably warm here as well. Except for a few days early in September it has been in the low to upper 80's every day. At least it gets cool at night so the house does not get hot until afternoon. We have had the best tomatoes this year. Last year we had an early freeze and most of the garden went to heck.

Early next week is supposed to be cooler but I won't have my new stove until the end of next week and it will warm up by then. Hopefully it will be cool enough for the break in fires.

I'm out on 10/2/10. 50 degrees outside, heading down to 32. Stovetop temp about 450 and will let her cool
down. The dog jumped up in the rocking chair and gave me one of those quizzical looks, "what took so long this
year?"

All you guys/gals are making me feel "chilly" but the house is at 70 so its a no go... but I see next week got some days where it won't go over 55 and will be damp.... so first fire could be coming.... but should it be the gas fireplace, or the pellet stove, or wood stove? Lol
Won't be laughing much longer ..... it will be all @#&*$ words!

I'm out. 55 and raining out. I finally get to use some of these uglies and chunks up!

It was a little chilly in the house and I wanted to put shorts on. So, I lit a match and started a fire. Done and done.

It was 37 this morning and a little chilly in the house when I got home from work tonight. Threw in a couple splits of tamarack and BAM!

Winter is long my friends - I'm still getting heat from my dehumidifier in the basement and one little space heater upstairs. I'm holding out till thanksgiving at the earliest.

I like those Kodiak stoves. Would like to take one for a test drive someday.

We really like the new Kodiak. Sure makes the wood go farther than it use to. Looks pretty good too.

I did a nice size fire last night.first time with seasoned wood, it was great!!!

I have had one going for the past two nights and have one going now. I have spent the last 2 days and today out in the rain so it sure does feel nice to come home and sit in the the 75 degree living room in a pair of shorts and t-shirt. Plus at my new job I got a great supply of dry scrap wood that is free for the taking. Most is pine and soft wood but great for this time of year.
