What kind of "chimney pipe" ?

I bought a cabin in upstate NY that has a loft area so I decided to go straight up through the ceiling/floor loft and up thru the roof. I believe I can use single wall to the ceiling/floor loft and then go with chimney pipe from that point up and through the roof. I am assuming I can use double wall or is the triple wall better for my application?

From the stove to the ceiling support box you can use single or double wall connector pipe, depending on your clearances. From the ceiling support box to the cap you will need to use class A pipe. A good insulated classA pipe like Simpson, Excel or Selkirk will be fine. Stick with one brand from top to bottom for the easiest installation.

www.dynamitebuys.com and www.northlineexpress.com have pretty good pricing on piping.

Not sure if you have to follow any specific building codes, I believe the national code (atleast here in Canada) states no more than 10ft of single-wall black pipe. Any more than 10ft and you have to use double-wall black pipe.

Then insulated double-wall stainless pipe (I believe you have the option of galvanized exterior in the US) through the ceiling/loft/attic/roof. Make sure it extends atleast 3ft above the point of roof penetration, and is 2ft higher than anywhere within 10ft (IE... if you have a steep sloped roof, you will need to extend the chimney to meet the 2ft@10ft rule).

You just missed the sale on ventingpipe.com where they would ship simpson duravent free. They may give it to you if you ask nicely, I've had a really good experience with them thus far.
