Can you get bigger than a 10' t-post? Or an extender?

The deer are now going over my 8 footers with vinyl coated wire fence reinforced with galvanized wire and housing the tomatoes, blueberries and strawberries. I can get 10 footers through TSC but would get taller if I could find them for the problem areas. Or, load the Winchester.

I think if they went over the 8 footer I would put em in the freezer,

That is my inclination as well but there is a proximity to neighbors problem.

Plug in the fence.

Have you done this? Is it just one loop around the top?

That's what I've heard. 6' up and a wire topper that's electrified. The deer will nose the top of the fence and get a jolt, then not try to jump it

Is a bow out of the question??

slide a piece of pipe over the top, then run screw into it to it to make it as tall as you need. Could electrify a acre for about 200 dollars, using top notch stuff. much less for regular stuff.

Probably not but probably wouldn't be that popular. The tick bags have numbers on their side in this battle either way.

That is a good idea and I think I have some old galvanized that would work over the t-posts. My wife isn't loving the electric idea but it is only 8000 sq ft and the blueberry bushes they defoliated last night would have easily paid for it.

This is a nice clear setup. Deer won't jump a fence if there is an impediment in their way. This can be a shorter fence about 3 ft outside of the main fence or a hedge.

Agreed. If they are unsure of their landing, they won't jump. I have a 6 foot tall welded wire fence with a horizontal pipe at the top. Inside the fence I have raised beds and tall stakes sticking up out of the beds.

I like the pikes at a 45 degree angle approach. Any of the dumb ones end up in the freezer. It would seem they were getting in through the side that I leave more temporary so I can get the tractor in and out. It had 4 ft of welded wire and 3 strands of galvanized wire above that to the top of the posts. I put another 100 ft of 3 ft welded wire over the galvanized and they haven't been back in in the last week. They devoured everything outside the fence and seem to have moved on to the neighbors landscaping.

I just watched a deer sky over our 8' fence in the moonlight like it wasn't there. Could have easily cleared 12.

After they are in the garden I'm sure a bow would work great. So would a subsonic .22LR.

run a single strand of elec around the area a couple of feet off the ground (can be around outside of your existing set up a foot or two if you want). hang some small strips of alum foil from the fence. coat the foil w/ some peanut butter. Energize the fence. Camp out and watch the fun! a normal fence shock may discourage your trespassers, but a shock to the tongue will leave a lasting impression upon the individual animal.

a local guy did this to protect some apple trees on his place. Deer love apples more than most other options. I'll tell ya, he now has no problem w/ deer going after his apple trees.

Scope mounted on a Barnett crossbow, pays for itself in grocery savings the first year, good scope will pull enough moonlight so nobody will even see a flashlight.

This is not a serious reply but it stuck in my head. Put a row of spikes inside the fence so they impale after jumping over and you have your venison without having to shoot it!

As many have said a bow & arrow is quiet.
Fresh meat is tasty. :)
