I was wanting to see if anyone has draft problems with below grade install. The family room in my house is 4 ft below grade this is the place I would like to put the stove. The chimney will be a through the wall install OAK is also, going to be difficult to install but, the stove is in the cooler part of the house basement area. As, well as the garage man door is right across from the stove. Please HELP!!

I just installed a stove in my basement and draft seems to be quite good. Installing the stove in lower levels of the house often results in a taller chimney. Mine was 32'.

I have unit installed in my basement with a outside chimney. I have had trouble through the years with a bad downdraft when the unit is not burning, also at times trouble trying to reverse the draft. Once it was going it was not to bad depending on what the weather was like outside. I just installed a flex SS liner in the masonry chimney, I am hoping this helps. Everyone seems to think that it will.

Mine is also all completely exposed. Stainless class A all of the way up on the outside. I am considering enclosing it some day.

rsnovi,

Is this the first year on your basement install? Havw you noticed more cresote in your chimney form the cooing effect? How did you install out side air?

This is my fist year and have only had a few fires. they were in some of the conditions which you should have the worst draft with it being quite warm outside.

I am not running an outside air kit.

I have problems with mine (Basement install)
The Blaze King Cat, when I turn to 1 or less, & the chimney cools down ,& on cold days I get a down draft .
House gets too hot if I run on mid range.
Still learning best operating procedure for shoulder season. (my 1st fall with new BK)
Smells up the basement sometimes.

Going to change the "stove pipe to chimney" section this week to 2 - 45° els (one 90° el now) see if that helps.
