One more piece to do the job right with pelletvent pro piping. You need the female adapter to the flex vent pipe. Number 4PVP-ADFF

Thanks - I missed that one!

I am thinking of doing something like this. Utilizing a 45 elbow I can get the T closer to the center of the fireplace. I think this would be better than going from adapter right into the T since the T sits so close to right side of fireplace. What do you guys think? Any other ideas? Think I'll do this sooner than later.

Nice drawing! I see no issue with this. You are using 4 inch vent pipe so the extra 45º should not cause any issue. Well just like plumbing anytime you ad a fitting, its just one more place you could get a leak. So as long as you seal it tight. You should be fine!

One question - The Pelletvent Pro instructions say that you only need high temp RTV where the adapter goes on the stove collar. It says all the sections have some sort of internal gasket with sealant already on it. Is that true?

Thanks.

Yes, But it's far from leak proof. I sealed mine both inside and out on the joints I wasn't going to take apart for maintenance. I sealed the external joint on those I was. I still got minor leaks and had to shine a bright light on them in the dark to find them. Sealed the exterior some more and added the high temp tape. No leaks but looks hideous! Next vent will be Selkirk's or ICC.

OK, maybe i need to do some research on Selkirk or ICC Excel first... thanks.

Problem is finding them. Maybe someone will post some links???(hint)

Keep us posted on how things turn out for you! Glad I could help a little!

Hello

I have a Avalon Astoria same as Lopi Leydon with a 4" flue outlet on the back. When I purchased the stove from the pros at the Stove Shoppe in Windham NH, they sold me the appropriate 4" pellet appliance adapter. It has a double wall that slides onto the stove outlet and a standard pellet pipe end to connect to a pellet T or whatever.

See pic of mine below, it goes to a wall adapter then into the chimney behind the wall. The T is behind the wall.
The OAK pipe can be seen below it.

Good Luck

Rich, if you can find the ICC Excel I'd recommend it. I have taken mine apart many times now and it slips back together tightly using the seals (that are guaranteed for life). I have never had a leak. I have an appliance adapter that is RTV'd to the stove permanently.
It's worth a look.

Thanks Mike I forgot you had ICC on yours. I'll see if I can find it near me.

UPDATE: Found out this adapter only works with Dura-Vent's PelletVent Pro HomeSaver Flex Liner. Their flex liner locks into this adapter. This won't work with my Foreverflex (Everguard) liner.

ICC Excel makes everything I need and is my first choice. A few dealers about 30 miles from me. I will email to see if they can get what I need.

Selkirk VP looks good also and is my 2nd choice but does not list an adapter to connect to a flex liner. Their older PL line does though but I don't know if it's compatible with the VP.

Anyone know how much more expensive ICC is over Dura-Vent or Selkirk? Looks like no online sales for ICC.

The Simpson flex adaptor will work on any flex liner as long as its the right size. When you are seeing something that twist locks in, that is the simpson biofuel 60" flex pieces which have the simpson twist locks on the end. That item does not use a flex adaptor, it has one built into it.

The current simpson pellet pro pro is quite improved over older versions. It has a an O-ring built into each piece and seals up pretty good. Not sure which version of the pipe j-takeman has, but I would be interested to know if its the newest style with the O-ring.

jtp10181,

I have the new pellet vent pro with the orange oring seals. Bought them last season. My biggest leak issue was the tee. I had to seal every seam on that. The appliance adapter also leaked pretty bad.

I have a basement install and its never going to be a show piece. But if I had it in my parlor? I would be really PO.

Stopped by my stove dealer yesterday to pick up a few gaskets. They had my stove hooked up with what looked like Simpson (twist locks) with adapter, T, and going up through ceiling, and every joint had black RTV. It would be no big deal for me though since mine vents behind stove into fireplace. You can't see it anyway. Decisions........

So that flex adapter inserts into the flex liner and then you just use aluminum tape to seal it?

Thanks for the info.

EDITED: OK - I got enough info and will stop beating the horse here. Thanks to ALL.

Well I will give a heads up to anyone who buys new simpson pipe and gets leaks. I had one last year and I called simpson just to get ideas on what we did wrong or how to fix it, and they wanted to just send me all new pipe, so I let them. The new pipe worked better, we must have just gotten a defective piece.
