The good news is he is a year ahead for the first time since he started the program. The bad news is the demand is so great he said he will probably have to give some of it out this year and it was almost all oak. He feels bad he can't let it season longer but if he doesn't provide it, those families will have no heat.
That is such a great sight to see. What a terrific program. I wish we had something like that in our area.
It was really a lot of fun to be part of. I was working between those first two piles on the right. Cut everything you could reach on one pile and then go back over to the other while somebody came in and stacked up all of your rounds. Repeat. When the pile got a little scary, have the skid steer come in and knock it down. Only had to stop cutting to fill up and touch up the chain. I wish my own cutting was that easy!

Great job and worthy cause! I'd be interested in participating in something like that if you want to car pool next year.
It would be nice if they used ash or locust if they can't let it season, but I suppose they use what they have access to.

hopefully the Big Oil Company CEO's were chocking on the sweet smell of chainsaw exhaust and wood chips. Great job and hopefully the people getting the free wood appreciated all the hard work involved in processing it.

Wendell, that is great to become a part of that wood cutting bee. I'd like to see several of those in various parts of the country. Probably the hardest part would be weeding out the takers from the group that is really needy.
Should someone try something like that in our area I'd be all for it. Would someone like to get this organized?

I think it would be fun to participate in something like this and get to do a good deed while at it. The most difficult par tI envision on getting something set up like this would be getting the wood lot to be harvested. I work hard at scrounging and have never come across anything like this. I drooled all over my key board watching those video's and seeing all those logs!

That's awesome! I've been wondering if I could find a bunch of other wood burners in my area and see if we could just all head up and cut wood down together- get the big burly guys with the equipment to fell the trees and cut them to hauling size to bring them out of the mountains, then we could take what we need and buck and split and divide it up between us. The old saying "Eight families don't need eight dutch ovens" sort of deal.
