Got my Love-less Cheetah Ash Vac from UPS today. I like it! Its a nice set up and works very well.... Can't wait to put it to use.... I sucked up my ashes from when I cured my paint job. No mess.

i have one..mine is about 3 yrs old...its a little tricky..to keep it from clogging up you have to hold the nozzle flat against the fire bricks..your not supposed to suck up hot ash , but i suck up a little, and i have not broken it yet..i just keep it off the carpet in case the bottom gets hot.

I always wondered about them but stopped when I bought my new shop vac. The HEPA filter keeps all the fine dust in the vac and I use it for everything else too. I use the shovel for the weekly ash removal and the vac for cleaning up.

I am trying to get away from using a shovel to cut down on ash throughout the house. It gets around. I have shop vacs but I would be worried about a hot coal in there. The cheetah is a metal can with a fire proof filter...

My feeling is that if you don't have a decent, usable ash pan you should go with either the shovel and covered bucket (or ash trap) . . . or a vac like the Cheetah made just for this purpose . . . I think you're wise to not use the Shop Vacs for use on cleaning out the stove . . . but it sounds as thouh CTburner uses his Shop Vac like I do . . . to simply clean up the fly ash and wood debris around the stove.

Since I clean up around the stove with the shop vac after i empty ash. I do use the shop vac when I shovel it out. I wedge the shop vac head in between the top of my steel bucket and the handle so it stays there right on the edge of the bucket and then I shovel the ash into the bucket carefully Any of the dust that rises up from depositing the ash in the bucket gets sucked into the shop vac and filtered.

YES, you have to be careful when doing this but it is very easy really. I usually only do it when I am scooping a full load of ash. If I am just taking a few scoops, I do not use the chop vac. I prefer to do a few scoops a day or every other day but sometimes it does not happen.

These are not to be used for cleaning a stove when there are any coals in there. Take a scroll down on teat Cheetah II. Even a 'cigarette' can burn a hole in their filter - same as my shop vac. This is basically why I don't get the product for wood stove use. They are more geared for Pellet stoves. I still vac my pellet stove with my shop vac. I just make sure that everything is dead for sure...

Ok, I used the Cougar vac about 4 times now. Love it. The shovel and bucket is retired. No mess!

Ohhh, I might need this! My husband has asthma and I have a young daughter- don't want them breathing particulates. Plus the cats would probably find a way to play in the ashes. *adds to wishlist*
