Hi All:

Looking at a thread started by a new member (from Wisconsin), I started considering where all the forum members are from. Does anyone know which area the greatest concentration of members is from? I get the impression MA, Va, NY, PA, are big, with a lot of activity from northern Rockies, western Provinces/Territories and Washington. Where are we all from? How does one find out, without going back over 300,000 posts?

(BTW, finally needed to burn yesterday here, near the Boulder, CO area, but it's forecast to be in upper 60s for the rest of the week.)

i'd say go thru the members directory or if people don't mind just checking in on this thread with a quick

i'm from mass.

Run a poll. When I read about folks running AC after I've been burning 24/7 for a few weeks, I also wonder about members by temperature zone.

I too would be interested in a poll.

Of course this varies with the population of a given area....and, then again, the rural based population! NY State is our biggest draw........the entire Northeast also. Midwest and west, of course, in the colder areas.....

This map and list should answer most basic questions about that.....

Interesting info. I see that people from Maine and Virginia spend the most time on average at the site, that makes sense since they read so much sssllllooooowwwweerrrrrr :)

Interesting. Mass had a good showing. We are #3 in visits, but on a visits per capita basis beat out the evil empire (1.5x the visits, 3x the pop).

But looks like Maine beat us all in visits per capita.

What Craig's pic doesn't tell you is half of the visits from NY are from Me, Zap and Battenkiller.

Wisconsinites read fast. :)

Craig: Can you post a map of members from Canada? Maybe the rest of the world too. We seem to have a few Brits, at least 1 Israeli, and a few others.

took me an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes sunday night ;-)

WooHoo! We are Penn State . . . oh wait I meant number 2!!!!!

You aren't #2 by any means, if your talkin' football LOL...................... Another rebuilding year for JOE PA!

average time is 7 minutes 13 seconds for mass. it's kinda funny, i may not be here everyday, but when i am i spend sometimes 1 to 2 hours. i must not be your average pickanic basket. right boo boo.

Hmmm. poor showing from Vermont. Vermont would be up near the top if it wasn't for a lack of high speed internet in most places. I don't know of anyone who doesn't burn one way or another.

As you can see, I'm from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, about 225 years on my father's side of the family. My sister-in-law told my brother shortly before they were married that when she first met our father, she had a hard time understanding him. I said "why, he doesn't have a noticeable accent, he talks just like me"!

I have seen several Coloradans (or Coloradoans if you prefer) on the site. Beetle K is about 40 miles west of me, as best I can tell. I've seen posts from further north in the state, nearer to Ft. Collins. I'm near Boulder. I'm not sure how many from CO are on the west side of the Continental Divide (where I cut).

In any case, it is an absolutely marvelous (and kind'a specialized) forum. I don't think you could ask to meet a nicer bunch of folks. Thanks to you all.

Very interesting, I did not know that there were that many people still left in Michigan

Here is some of Canada - and some of UK.

UK seems to mostly be quickies checking out....maybe even some spammers looking to roost!

I see hits from most everywhere....China, Saudi Arabia, etc...

Looks like the hits correlate pretty closely to population with climate as a distant second factor. I am surprised to see WA and TX on par with ME.

I too was surprised at the average time. Cripes, sometimes I'll spend that much time just on one thread!

I like the comment about not knowing there was still this many still in the state of Michigan. For sure our state has lost many but when the jobs leave, so do the people. Everyone has to earn a living so they go where there is work.

Ahh . . . but Maine has the "Pook Factor." ;)

ROFLMAO!

I was just thinking something along those lines. I better go out and cut some wood, Craig's map has outed us.
