They are claiming 97.8 % efficiency on their sign along the road and over 97 % on their website. That is the biggest bunch of BS I've ever seen. These would be condensing boilers if that were true. Gas isn't that efficient.

A lie is not always a lie????

Example . . . We can truthfully say that salesmen are 100% efficient.

Put them in any hydronic unit and they will NOT return 100% (in fact, the creamatorium will probably send you a bill :bug: )

But they ARE 100% efficient at spewing rust-colored BS

I believe over about 92% and they start condensing.

KWB in Europe has a boiler rated something like 93.7 percent & they caution the flue pipe & chimney must be moisture tight, Randy

Hey you should have stopped in if you thought the "sign on the road" was misleading!! We could have shown you the letter from EPA who did the testing and list the 97% efficiency. I am glad we are busy taking orders and dont have time to take road trips to see where all the business has gone!!

great comeback BENAHSMAN, actually had me chuckling out loud! On the other hand, you must KNOW that that is a bogus number. I've got a letter from my Mom telling me I'm an angel, but it doesn't mean I have wings.

The problem is the EPA test protocol and by using their number, while technically "true", you are clearly misleading the uninformed consumer in my opinion.

The average member here is W A Y better informed than the average customer at time of purchase.

I like to make people smile!! I really am smiling now as I have been taking orders all day!! I guess this USA made Woodgun Gasification Boiler has a lot of admirers!!

Awe come on now it's not total BS... it's about 87% true.
The uninformed consumers are still buying OWB no? The informed know the real deal, those tests mean about as much as MPG test on auto's.

Nothing wrong with the woodgun though, I studied them a bit before I made my purchase.

Hey, When it gets past 110 percent I'm going to start having doubts! lol, Randy

Hopfully all those customers will be Wood gun admirers down the road. Please ask them to keep us updated on this forum. I hope they will have a better experience than I did.

And that, dear people should tell you all you need to know about the EPA test protocol.

I think I have nothing more to add so I will go pipe a boiler now.............. :)

One more thing.........

Curious as to how you are handling condensate? Using wood as the fuel source and acknowledging that the fuel quality varies substantially, it's safe to assume that the danger of condensation will likely occur at efficiencies of around 84-86%. Therefore you must have some way of handling the liquid coming out of the heat exchanger if you are really getting a true 97%. ....No?

Bernie Madoff have a lot of admirers too, sounds like a scam to me.

Personally I wouldn't have taken a roadside sign too seriously if a person was well informed about wood burning. If it isn't efficiency numbers that are being juggled it is burn times. Seems you need a 8 to 10 hour burn or your boiler isn't worth buying. I don't think anyone is saying WG did anything illegal are they? Is it WG's job to correct the EPA? My .02 cents worth is that hoky EPA testing is at fault here not WG for using their numbers, Randy

It's on their website too. And by the way Ben do you still have over 250 boilers that are over 3 yrs old still setting in stock? I heard that you weren't selling too many of them and that's why you have the ad up to sucker some more sales. I have a lot of inside friends there so don't bullshit me I know what goes on. You are just a newbie there.

The WoodGun was on my short list. From all I've read here, it sounds like a good unit. Like all of them, it has it's weaknesses.

But a salesman who hangs out here laughing about how consumers allow themselves to be deceived, while braggin' about how much he's sellin' . . . for his wife's sake, I hope he's not gettin' paid on commission, 'cause she's gonna starve :eek:hh:

I guess you're not selling as many boilers as you said since you have time to waste on the computer. Does Brian know how much time you are wasting? You better hope he doesn't find out.
