Well I have been working like a dog the past three days filling up my new woodshed. I dropped 4 big dead oaks on my ranch and skidded them to my splitting yard with my tractor and chains. I do not own a splitter, so I rented one, which turned out to be rather sorry. Anyway after splitting and stacking all weekend I have pretty much filled up my shed and I'll be good to go next year. I hope I have enough seasoned wood from last year to carry me through this winter. I may have to cheat a little though.
Pics included for your amusement....

Excellent looking stockpile you have there. Nicely done..

I'm drooling.

very pretty stacks as well.

Nice shed, and very neatly stacked.
Why not take it to the rafters?
Oh, and just an fyi. The ladies around here do what you just did, and quite well, I might add, so although it might be manly, it's also womanly.

I dunno. I've never skidded logs, but I have pulled trees down, or to the processing area with the truck & some straps, does that count? :p

FlyingV ... nice shed !! Reminds me of a run - in :) My original response after looking at the pics was "so where is the manly content " part of this thread ;-P

Welcome to the forums !

Nice splitting and even better stacking, how much wood do you burn a year.

Your stacks are so pretty that they aren't even that manly anymore. Your tractor must be pretty manky though. Those are some big logs you skidded. Post tractor pics for more manliness.

Either those shed posts are REALLY big or that split wood is really tiny!
Looks great!

I think the Manly part is posting a self portrait of himself,,, not many men (or women) in this forum are Man, or "Manly" enough to do that. :coolsmirk:
Good job Flying V

Watch out got some pretty tough women around this site, nice looking Shed.

Whoooaaa, I think I can take her :)

Nice pic, FlyingV !

that woodshed is AWESOME. I have a big thing for wide planks.

I was impressed with the fact that you could get those false teeth in those "Hillbilly Dogs!!"

Very nice shed . . . neat stacks . . . love the pics of the dogs.

Man if my stacks looked that neat I'd polyurethane them not burn 'em! That has to be the neatest stacked wood I have seen yet.. Nice work!

Soupy,
what makes you think those are false? %-P
Oh, and just because they're names are Darryl, Darryl, and Darryl, doesn't make 'em hillbilly dogs.
I still think the shed is cool.

flyingvranch, that shed turned out pretty nice and looks much better with the wood stacked in there.

What was that sorry splitter? Why was it bad?

The splitter was a rental and was just plain worn out. The wedge guide was loose constantly because the bolts were worn and so the ram would push off to one side. The piston rod was bent because of this also. The shoe plate was nearly 1 1/2" thick steel yet some dumb butt managed to bend it out almost 1/2 inch anyway. LOL Also the shoe plate was smooth and shiny with no gripper to hold the wood in place and so you had to be on the lookout for popups when you started splitting and the bent out shoe probably contributed to that happy phenomenon also. It cost me 82 dollars a day which was kinda steep for my opinion, especially for the sorry shape it was in. I was not the one who picked it up at the rental place, or I would have turned it down. It was all that I had, so I used and abused it anyway. I can't really justify the cost of a new one, as I don't use one but once a year and Lord knows that I don't need another engine on the ranch to maintain.

Very neat stacks.
Shed looks great with all those BTUs in there.
I bet it feels warm just standing beside it :)

Incredible job stacking that wood and a great looking woodshed. Next time just warn me before you post a picture of my MIL and her sisters.

I can certainly understand now why you said it was junk! And what is just one more motor to maintain?! lol Like you need more huh.
