I've been having a problem with my 4 year old Breckwell p2000. It lights but when lit it doesn't kick up to the normal fan speed.
I called my dealer and they said a chimney sweep and stove cleaning would probably fix that.
So I spent $400 on that, and the technician---who did not seem to be familiar with my particular stove--says it's the control panel. He determined that by bypassing the control panel and sending juice directly to the fan. He said the control panel is not regulating voltage so that the fan will go to a higher speed.
The deal will charge me $400 for the part, although they said they won't charge me for another service call.
Breckwell will sell me the part for about half of that.
The technician said it's very simple to swap out the control panel. Four screws and then one plug behind the panel. I can do things like swap out hard drives in a computer, and this sounds similar.
Is it as easy as it sounds?
Do I really need a new control panel? Is this the type of thing that should fail after only four heating seasons?
Thanks.
