from the help and opinions i've rec'd on this site i will be tackling the liner install myself (SS felxible). Searching online i see a variety of pricing - the least expensive kits i am seeing (40', not yet pricing for insulation blanket) are ForeverFlex at approx $540 and FlexKing at approx $475...for the entire kit. And a whole bunch of manufacturers in the $650-$900 range. I prefer 316ti, probably will NOT go with smooth inner lining...I am looking for opinions (good or bad) from any of you who can share thoughts on brands/manufacturers. Thank you all!

I just installed a Flex King Pro kit in my chimney. I guess I do not have any way to compare but it seems like excellent quality material. I guess years of service down the road will tell the real story.

Installed a Rockford 6" x 25' with 1/2" insulation blanket last year. Quality material, good customer service, fast delivery, lifetime warranty (if they are around to back it up). So I would say that I would recommend Rockford.

I installed a blanketed flex king. Good kit as far as I can tell. They forgot to include the bottom of my T, but I had a spare one so I just threw it on. No big deal... I installed a 30 foot liner and they are pretty awkward and heavy. I'm happy I rented a bucket from HD. While trying to slide it down the flue I probably had the bucket bouncing up and down a foot while I twisted and tried to jam it down.

I also went with a Flex King, but used loose fill perlite as insulation. I'm on my third year with the Flex King.

I installed a magnaflex liner from TheHeatElement on here and used vermiculite to insulate it. I was very happy with the product and customer service from him. I'd suggest you shoot him an email so that you have another one to compare to.

I also used the magnaflex insulated liner. Works great and easy to install. Be worth the time to check it out.

thanks for all the input. flexking appears to have the best price... Anyone have any negatives or 'watchouts' to share?

Not really. In my experience, they were good people to work with.

As with any liner manufacturer, just make sure that you fit all your connections together properly and that you follow their instructions/guidelines.

I am not sure if Flex King has the double walled flex liner. But I heard that the double walled and/or double thickness liners do not flex as easily. This could be a problem if you have significant bends.

I just purchased a 6"x20' length of Flex King Pro and am waiting to get it. They were great to ask questions to this past week as I decided what to do. Also, they throw in for no cost a nose cone to attach to the bottom end if you ask. Supposedly helps in pulling thru past the ledge on the fireplace. Hopefully I get it in on a day in the next few weeks that is tolerable. Can't wait to connect it up to my Jotul c450!
