Since I am harvesting further from the road all the time, I need cable. I thought I saw pre-assmbled cable on-line at one point, but I can't seem to find any now. http://www.wallingfords.com/26-34.pdf doesn't direct sell apparently.

And don't recomend a Farmi/Wallenstien winch. In this economy, I could purchase 7 tri-ax loads for the smae price. Not happening.

Are you looking for chokers or winch cable? You can buy chokers from Baileys online and for winch cable just do a search for wire rope in New York. Being in NY, I would look locally since shipping will kill you on the weight. On the east coast I would look for a wire rope dealer in the marine industry, they should be able to make you one.

Thats what I would do aswell. you can have the choker made up, and also get any needed fittings, and a couple of snatch blocks to redirect the angle of pull. all for less than a pre assembled piece price. 100 foot spool of cable and your good to go!.

Ok, for my education, why not wire rope? I guess I use the term interchangeable. There are several types of wire rope, 6 x 19 thru 6 x 37, an the 9 series but they are not as strong as the 6 series, if i recall correctly.

DEW NOT buy wire rope.
Cable or swaged cable only.
Gotta be a place near Booneville.
I'll look in my supplier file and get back to you.

U cant kill a Farmi!

Prolly so, but the Farmi would kill me. When the Mrs finds out, I'll be living in a cardboard box on the sidewalk . . . no more need for Fir'wood.

Currently I have a couple of clevises on the drawbar. I use a couple of tow chains, but I wanna' B able to go deeper. So technically I don't need the chokers since the chain works for that. What I need is swaged cable, say 100', with one hook and one slip hook

3/8?

1/2?

My job generates tons of surplus 1/4" wire rope. Once the pieces are less than 100' they are useless to us. I put eyes on them and take them home. !/4" is good for a safe working load of 1000 lbs overhead lifting. A few more than that is OK for dragging. I have a few snatch blocks and can double up if I am concerned about the load.

If you only want 3/8", maybe you should check out http://blockheadsrigging.com? They also sell on ebay. Their work looks good to me and they were willing to customize whatever combination of ends I wanted. They ship in a USPS pre-paid priority mail box. Its cheap, but your postal carrier may hate you for it...

Their stuff does seem to be unbelievably cheap. I'm guessing it is imported. Keep in mind that you may not be buying the highest quality stuff from these guys and use it accordingly.

I also use the term wire rope and cable interchangeably also. I don't know of any difference. Probably a regional thing. Mostly we call it cable out here in the woods. Less words.

If your in the Rome NY area Kaylers might be able to get you what you want.
