We have a Resolute Acclaim that we inheritted with the house we bought last year. The stove itself is, I think 12 years old. The past few days the handle to open/close the damper has seemed a bit loose. This morning it doesn't seem to be doing anything - just sort of swings back and forth without engaging the damper (which is stuck closed). Any idea what happened, and how to fix it?

The set screw on the underside of the handle came loose. It is an allen head screw that fits inside the threaded handle. It screws against the flat side of the damper rod. Just tighten it up while the handle is in the proper position for where the damper currently is (closed or open) and you should be good. You'll need an allen wrench to do this.

Happens to mine all the time. Little blue locktight will help keep it secure in the future.
