Howdy,

I joined up the other day and did a little searching around but couldn't find quite what I was looking for - so I decided to try a post here. If my question has already been addressed in another thread, by all means, just point me the way!

I have a Rika Integra II Freestanding pellet stove that I'm looking at 'tweaking' to make some upgrades too. I've done a little research a couple years ago but never followed through with the upgrade. Now I'm at it again.

Stove purchase in 2006 and been running great since then. I run about 3 ton a year and prefer the local Atlas brand pellets that are 100% red fir (I think).

The one thing about the stove that I can't believe I didn't understand after I bought it was that the thermostat is not really a thermostat; it's an intensity level setting. So... there's no way to truly set the temperature on the thing. I did some research and there's an upgraded CPU motherboard that was available that allowed hooking up an external thermostat via a CAT5 networking cable. I have a copy of the .PDF file for the thermostat and have pretty good idea on how it can be used. Thing is, the local dealer had zero experience with these and couldn't offer any info - they were still learning themselves. As well, there don't seem to be too many Rika/Austroflamm experts local. I had to go to the distributor in Portland Oregon for the info. With the uneasiness of their experience I held off on the upgrade.

My questions are this:
1) Does anyone with a newer Rika Integra (or similiar) have the thermostat installed and could they offer some advice on it.
2) Does anyone at all know anything at all about this option on the stove. I feel kind of on the cutting edge here... but I'm sure someone else has done this before.
3) Has anyone done a motherboard upgrade/software upgrade on a Rika (even without the thermostat option)
4) Does anyone know if the cellular phone feature has been enabled yet on the unit? I'm just starting to research this one.

Thanks,

Any follow on questions for additional clarity are welcome as well...

Wanted to post up the basic info I have so far.

My software version is 1.29. This was the installed version when we put the unit in.

I tried putting up, as an attachment, the thermostat .pdf that was given to me. It's over the 1.1 M so no go. I guess we can figure out a different way to get this out to anyone that wants it.

As I find out more I'll try and update this post.

Ok, I found two other docs that were small enought to post - but then got denied because they were .pdf's and not images. I guess I need to learn the protocol here.

Anyhow, ones a cleaning guide (127KB) and the other is a much more detailed manual for using the computer interface (163KB). I guess let me know if you want it and I can try to get them to you.

Well this string tells me why the distributor is selling new pre-2009 Integras on eBay for $2530.00 I own a 1996 version that has been bullet proof through it's 15 year life. It is manual in that when you wish to start it, you clean out the pot, fill it by hand, add firestarter and wait a half hour while it heats up the room it occupys. I figured on buying the eBay unit being offfered and just buy a new motherboard with the thermostat capability. I would appreciate if you could send me a copy of the PDFs you have so I can further study your project.

Thanks [email protected]

Hello,

I just bought an integra ii. It was delivered yesterday, and i noticed it was manufactured in 2009. I had no idea that this was going to be a 5 year old stove when i bought it. The only reason it bothers me a little is because i read (as im reading in this thread) that the newer models 2009+ have better boards with thermostat capabilities.

Is it possible to get the info on the better boards? And also where i may purchase them.

I feel that the seller should have disclosed the fact that its a 5 year old model. Oh well, ill try and buy the better board. Its not like im going to send it back.

if your stove has an MFG date of 2009 or newer, you have the newest control board. You can verify this by your LED pad. Press the menu button a series of times until you go through MO, TU, WE, etc for each day of the week. When you see "PS" on the display press enter until you see "VU" in the top line of the display. If you see either 1.41, 1.42, or 2.42 on the 2nd line, you have the most current version.
