My husband kiddingly said this to me since I'm really not finding a stove (in our price range) that I want to share my living room with. We are leaning toward a P43 due to its ease of cleaning among other things. Sorry if I offend anyone, but to me it's just an ugly black stove. Can't afford the trim kits. Now maybe if it were a nice enamel brown like the Enviro Cast M55 that I'd REALLY like :)

Oh, well, just a thought. I guess it will grow on me when I'm enjoying the warmth!

Shouldn't be an offense and there are a few members here that have done just that. You can paint it any color you want in the high heat paint color range. Black is kind of boring too! I haven't done it so Maybe someone will come along an give pointers on whats required as far as prepping the stove.

Sure would like to see the end result when finished! Hope you post a picture? :)

I certainly will post a pic if it actually happens! My husband changes his mind about every other day on the stove--just got back from the Quadrafire dealer; now thinks that Santa Fe is the way to go. It is about $700 cheaper than the P43, plus another 10% off since he's installing it himself.

I would still like to see someone's painted stove though!

Yep... painted mine ugly black this year... it was also ugly black last year.

Your local pellet dealer should have the good paint available in several colors. My bride and I were just looking at the different colors at our dealer today... I kinda like the dark blue.

Don't forget to look at the Heatilator stoves if he is at a quad dealer.

Haven't painted a stove yet but I have painted alot of other things(metal&otherwise;).Just make sure all areas to be painted are clean&rust; free.Wire brush all rusty areas&wash; all other areas to be painted with any light solvent I E -(alcohol or mineral spirits)As Jay said use high temp. paint, mask off anything you dont want painted & spray away!Pretty simple and cheap. You'll be surprised how new you can make that old stove look!

The Sante Fe, with it's sheet metal outer skins lends itself to easy painting. Go over to www.iburncorn.com and post on the 'Bixby' section and ask 'rona' how he painted the Bixby. It looked beautiful.
Really, take some 220 grit or 320 to it, use some automotive prep solvent on it, and then spray paint it. Practice on something less expensive like a couple of used doors or hoods from a local body shop who would love to get rid of them.

I have the insert version and haven't found any section that would need high temp paint. Don't know about a free stander.

I don't know the going price of a P43 but you could get the Harman XXV in Brown Enamel. We've had our for 2 weeks now and absolutley love it. We also looked at the M55 cast in brown enamel but ended up going with the Harman instead.

The P43 is currently $2600 w/a $100 online coupon. This is about as high as we can go. It really would be a nice stove if it wasn't so ugly, actually so BIG & ugly %-P

Not sure if painting will be an option this year as it's getting cold here.
