I have a Hampton HI300 insert with a fan. It burns well, but the automatic fan never comes on unless I really burn the stove hot. I’ve had the retailer replace the fan twice, and adjust the sensitivity. This is getting to be a bit of a bore. I’d like to leave the fan to turn itself off at night. Does anyone else have the same problem? Is this a recurrent problem? Any tips would be most welcome.

The sensor (from my experience) is at the bottom left toward the front of the firebox. I found that if I have a split or round jammed against the front left side the fan does not come on. The log is acting as an insulator and keeping the trigger cool enough so it does not trip. Try keeping the left side of the firebox clear and keep ash away from it as well. Worked for me.

Not sure about that. But you should be able to follow the wires from the fan assembly and find the sensor

The sensor is a metal disk about the size of a quarter. If the whole fan "section" of the stove isn't pushed in flush against the stove body so the sensor is touching the stove, it won't get hot enough to come on. Make sure the fan section is pushed up snug against the stove properly. Some people have said they needed to bend the little disk out a bit to make sure it contacts the stove. Good luck.
