just a poll, with the increasing fuel prices in mind.......due to inflation, regardless of what Obama's spin doctors might want you to believe.... :ahhh:

I burn about 2.5 tons a year, I had 2 tons from last year and am going to buy 4 or 5 more this year, 196.00 is the lowest its been in about 5-6 years around here

Don't have to guess with this one. Several reports of price increases in the Mass. area. Oil goes up, so does everything else. It will be especially visible in area where there are no pellet mills and everything is trucked in. I.e urban areas. I do think that those with large inventories will not go off the deep end until their supply is more manageable. The best protection is to even out the demand by having a "bumper" available to you so you are not forced into buying at inflated prices. This would be best done when pellets are plentiful and cost is reasonable. The least protection is if we get into panic buying and create a false demand. Most sellers will charge what the traffic will bear, even if it is on pellets they bought cheaply. The other end of this for them is not to get stuck with pellets they paid a high wholesale price for once the retail price comes back down. Oil is going up because of global price fixing and the actions of a group of Wall Street suits. They'll do it as long as consumption remains steady. Our current administration won't step in because they want to see higher fossil fuel prices. That makes their green agenda more cost effective. Too much Al Gore Koolaid.

ya think its that, or is it just simple inflation?.....the sitting gummint just prints more money, so, therefore, the dollar is simply worth less......oh, wait, I forgot...Bush caused all this!

LW,

I am all set for this season and padding the 2011/2012 season. I only need another 1.5 tons to cap the supply off come spring dealer early buy. I am no dummy as these prices haven't been this low in 5 years or so. I see gas and oil on the climb, Wanna make a bet that pellets aren't far behind? :) Only thing that will keep them low is the large piles I see stacked at the pellet dealers around the area.

This little piggy is stuffed to the hill and can't fit no more till spring. :)

How's the pellets sales been for you this season???

J-T:

Actually, came up with this poll tongue-in-cheek, as every year, even at this time, we see folks who think the price will actually drop at this time, and wait until the last second to buy.......usually these same folks who, after their strategy has blown up in their faces, blame the pellet companies and retailers of price gouging, highway robbery, and all that rot.......in other words, its someone else's fault!

Sales havent been bad, actually, albeit not as good as previous years. Seems a fair amount of folks are not buying a whole winters' worth, maybe due to the economy, who knows? Stove sales has been ok, but I maintain mostly because of the stimulus bill incentive...I would hate to imagine what sales would have been otherwise!

22 tons in stock
stocked up thru at least 2013-2014 season
might buy another trailer load in spring
hope my stove lasts long enought o burn it all

All set for the winter here too.
I watch pellet pricing year round, but usually buy my winter supply as soon as mud season is over.
Early spring is when I find the best prices of the year in my area.

Historically, pellet prices increase as the winter season approaches....same as fossil fuels.

Inflation? what inflation? At least that is why I have been told for the past two years and there is no cost of living increase to my social security and military retirement checks. Sometimes I wonder if Maine is far enough away from the beltway.

I only burn about 3 tons in a heating season and have
at this time a ton of Barefoot and a ton of Okies.
Prolly get one more ton next week and that will do it.
