OK, so in our travels to here and there we have decided on the avalon astoria. However, there isn't a place within an hour drive of me that sells this line. I drove over to the closest dealer and waited outside their store but they were not open when the sign said they would be open. While there I called and left a message. From home I sent an email. No response yet. It was hard enough to get the model my better half likes so before you start in with the dealer support line I would say that spousal support trumps it. She didn't like our local dealer or their line(s). Just wondering if anyone knows a place to get this particular model shipped to me. I have a good local certified person to do the install.

The Travis Industries stoves (Avalon & Lopi) are sold through local dealers only. Same for the parts. Looks like you'll have to use that one if you really want that stove.

IMO, I'd call them and firm-up a meeting time before driving there again.

The astoria is a great stove. I bought mine in 08 and have not been back to the dealer since. You might have to suck it up and do your business with this local shop, but call first!

X2-if your stove works as well as mine you won't be back to the dealer for a long time!

Thanks, I'll call Monday and see if they'll let me buy it and have my local guy install. While I am in their sales area I am outside the area they list for service. So hopefully they'll let me buy it and pick it up and let our local guy install it.

Sigh...we were between 2 good stoves but the large hopper on the astoria won out over the advance's computer maintained combustion system. I just know I would come home after a long day (12 hour shift plus commute) and the advance's hopper would be empty. It'll be heating a large area with the low ceiling being 9' so I know it will be running a near the middle or higher based on my neighbor's experience. Also, I just like the idea of a thermostat install.

Hello

I have had no trouble with my Astoria after a year. If using a thermostat, the best one for a pellet stove is one with a swing temp setting like the Skytech not the thermostat that comes with the stove.

More info on thermostats for the Avalon Astoria.

I added a Tiled Mantel with 2 candles, Amber Rope Light around the back and Red Rope light around the base for a warm lighting effect! See pic below:

We have a Lopi "Yankee" which is the little brother/sister to the Astoria. It is our only source of heat in about a 1800 sq ft home on Maryland's Eastern Shore. We did switch the thermostat that came with the stove to a Skytech remote control thermostat and it works great.

We bought our stove from Bylers Stove Shope in Dover Delware and installed it ourselves.

You maybe able to find a dealer that is closer to you by using the dealer link on the Lopi web site http://www.lopistoves.com/where_to_buy/

thanks for the tips on the thermostat. We'll probably just install with the one reccomended there. Local dealer is 60 miles away and won't return my calls or email. I have never had this much trouble spending money.
