Well, after many posts about what stove to upgrade to, I finally pulled the trigger on a new Blaze King Princess. I just finished the install and have my first fire going. I'm not sure if I'm high on the excitement of the new stove or the paint fumes, but I'm a happy camper. I can't wait to see what this thing will do for me in the burn time department.

Congrats Bjorn!

Correction--you are high on your new stove *and* paint fumes.

Yes, you must post photos. We need our stove p0rn.

Have fun, and keep us informed!

Congrats..it might be the last one you buy!

very cool . get some pics up and keep us updated how it goes

Congrats on the new stove. After you are done with the break ins, load her up fully NS and you will do just fine in the burn time department.

I got a well established fire going before bed last night, with the stove pretty well loaded. I turned the thermostat to 2 before going to bed. This morning I got up and the cat thermometer was still showing active. It was about halfway in the active range. I turned the stat back up and she roared to life. I am amazed how much wood was still in the stove. My old stove would have been all ash in 8 hours. Very impressive... especially the cat still being engaged.

Wow another impressive testimony to the long burn times of the BK. I think I'm going to have to trade up and get one. The Englander can go in the garage.

It is strange to look in the firebox and not see flames. Again this morning, I opened the bypass and damper to get the fire really going. Then I closed the bypass and let it burn for about 15 minutes. When I backed the thermostat/damper to 2.5, the flames virtually disappear. The cat thermometer is almost pegged, my flue is showing 500 degrees, yet there are no visible flames. Is this normal?

Yes it is bjorn. But that cat will give you much heat and long burn times. Let's not forget cleaner chimneys either. Congratulations to you! May that stove serve you well.

Congrats on the new stove!
Not seeing the flames is certainly strange to me too!

Any pictures?

Cheers,Hiram

I'll post some pics later today, got some running to do. Right now, my damper is about 2 1/4. Stove top is 475, flue 350, cat thermometer halfway up. She's cruising along nicely. I would have reloaded my old stove by now, but this one is still full of wood. Good stuff:)

Congrats on the new stove. Hope it goes well.

Thats the nice thing about these stoves, I thought I would have to get another fire going every morning or at least play around with it every morning, all I do is turn the tstat up and I get plenty of heat for another couple of hours before I have to reload.

For sure. That 30-NC will be the nuts for that "little" garage.
