That does help to know the air control works propery.

I was setting in the chair last week with the heating pad on my back [sore muscle] and I fell asleep for a moment or two.
When I awoke I was a bit over heated this spured my concern with the jotul.
We had a jotul in a small cabin and during cold U.P. winter it could have you inyour shorts by a window.

north71, every installation is a bit different, but I can practically kill my burn if I slide the primary air control to the fully closed position. Obviously it doesn't happen right away, but the temp will drop way down until the fire basically goes out and I am left with a pile of un-burnt coals. I typically run my stove in the 400-600°F sweet spot that Jotul recommends and I simply regulate the temp by the amount of wood and frequency in which I load. It is a very flexible stove in that regard. There is an art to running any stove and the Jotul is no different in that regard.
