After seeing crs7300's and all the other hunting posts i figgerd i'd post up my bow kill from this weekend. Didn't want to hijack his thread.

My buddy is in illinois for work and asked me to keep an eye on his property for him. He also said to go reduce the deer population a bit. Had an amazing mornin in the stand watchin the rut in full effect. Had some bucks makin scrapes, chasin does, and finally this ol boy walked right in! He's got a double mainbeam on his right side with 2 brow tines and 8 points and a perfect 4 on the other. Pretty darn unique if ya ask me. He's goin on the wall for sure. Oh and let's just say the marinated tenderloins were out of this world!

I've been bow huntin quite a few yrs now and this is my first bow buck! I've taken some nice deer with a gun but bow is a whole different game. I've watched many good deer just walk on by because i didn't have a clear shot. I guess patience pays off finally huh...

Thats a neat one! Decent size and very unique. I'm all about the non-typical ones, but never have seen one yet! I prefer bowhunting by far, and probably would just bowhunt if I hadnt spent all the money on a muzzleloader and shotgun. I could have probably got all the deer I need (2-3 deer) for the family for a year during this bow season but all I was seeing up close for bucks were small, and very few does came in, and the ones that did had bucks trailing them so I let em go hoping for a big buck.

Nice. Where did you hit him? Did he run far?

Unfortunately he took a step and turned towards me right when i released. Arrow hit him in front of the right shoulder and came out lower left side of the neck. He did a loop around the stand and went down about 20yrds away. Neck shot's will finish em for sure but i'd still rather hit em in the vitals..

Interesting rack for sure. Nice buck! Way to go.

awesome buck! That rack is great. I love the ones that are unique. Gives it real character. :)

Well heck anything that puts em down in 20 yards is good by me... I rarely drop em that quick, usually 30-50 yards. But thats still a lot better than when I was a kid and it seemed you spend an hour or two tracking em all over the place. We would always let em be for a couple hours to let them bleed out... anymore I usually watch em drop and wait maybe 5 minutes... Must be broadheads and bows have advanced that much.

I got in big time on opening day - at the Apple Store.
Scored a free T-shirt!

Pulled out my "gun" (credit card) and pulled the trigger....

I'm a modern hunter.....

Happy Thanksgiving, all - eat heartily!

actually, truth be told, I'm staying out of the woods (the mall and stores) this week - and, as much as possible until after Xmas. I'll go hunting on the internet!

SmokinPiney, that is a keeper for sure! Nice looking buck. He must have had an injury on the opposite side last spring or earlier in life. I love those non-typical racks.

Craig, you are hunting in the wrong places.

Thanks guys! Yea dennis that's what im guessin happend. Chance it coulda just been bad genes but who knows.. Here's another pic just to show how neat the rack is.

The rack diformity is probably from the pcb's he has been consuming over the last decade!

Maybe he is on steroids too?
