Bellbrook, Oh
I bought this unit to heat a garage space so I do not need it to maintain "living space" temp levels. It is using a full load of pellets (40+ lbs.) in 6-8 hours. That seems fast to me.....I have the augers set to the lowest settings. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated........It works great......just maybe a little too great

It is a 25-pdvc...

I get about 16 to 18 hours on mine lowest setting. Maybe a good cleaning will help. Somebody here should be able help shortly.

That`s exactly what I`m doing with mine, heating garage/workshop space. Even though it`s insulated the concrete floor absorbs heat faster than a sponge sucks up water . I run mine at 5-6 for an hour or more (depending on outdoor temps) because it takes a while to get the space up to temp , then I can turn it down to 1 or 2.
What are your exact settings?

If you are both running the stove the same way then likely there is a difference in your low burn settings if there is a large difference in your pellet consumption or your pellets densities are different.

Compare the settings and pellets.

turn the bottom 3 buttons to 4-4-1 it should give you alot more time per bag 12-17hrs im running mine at 3-5-1 right now because its 55 out and i turn the air feed up to 5 for a cleaner burn.RMW

Mike from Englander will probably chime in here on the settings as he is the guru of all things Englander.
FWIW I believe the first number is the feed rate. Lower feed rate = less pellets.

I would go out and download the manual from Englander first. Usually they have a set of FAQ's in there that might help. Then using the manual I would set it back to the default as a starting point.

25PDVC 2004 and newer http://www.englanderstoves.com/manuals/25-PDVC.pdf

I have mine set at 3/4/1 and 3/4 and my 25 keeps the downstairs hot at 82 and the 2nd floor comfortable enough not to need a blanket (matter of fact I blow a fan on the bed). But at this setting I am getting 16 - 18 hours out of a bag. If I try to go any lower on the feed rate or fan speed the stove will not burn, just ember and not put out any heat.
These guys have been a tremendous help in the last week.

dont give up on your stove it took me a few tries to get it right
but now im getting up to and sometimes more than 24 hrs per
bag and the house is comfy and the wife is happy

there is also a movable plate at the bottom of the hopper that can control the amount of pellets being feed into the system ie big pellets open it up short pellets close it down.... I am set at 3-4-1 burn 2/5 and get about 13 hrs....also a side note, my hopper does not hold a full 40# bag, maybe 32# or so but definetly not a full bag.....

6.6 pounds per hour, stove must be getting red hot. Mine on high is just 5 lb per hour.

Set the bottom three buttons to 4-4-1. If that doesn't help, partially shutting the restrictor plate in the hopper (which is screwed to the top of the cast iron feeded) may help. Sounds like you might have short or small diameter pellets and are getting a higher than expected feed rate.

OK so I have set the stove to 4-4-1....we will see what happens

As was mentioned above, if your pellets are of the "short variety" (longest pellet is about 1/2 - 3/4"), you should close the hopper restrictor plate a little, and also you might try the 3-4-1 setting on the lower 3 buttons too.

Giving Englander Tech a call and telling them how your stove is "set-up", while you're standing next to the stove, will allow them to help you narrow down the problem.

is this a new unit? what is the "low fuel feed" set at ? 6-8 hours on low is WAY too fast, unless your pellets are like "bb's" they shouldnt flow that fast. dropme a PM with your contact inof i'll try to work in a call tomorrow if i get a spare moment (things are quite busy at the shop this time of year but i can probably squeeze you in, daytime phone number in the PM and please have your stove's data (ser# etc handy or include in PM so i know what i have in front of me ) i'll settle her down for ya
