It came with the house and I want to know what model it is and how much it is worth. It looks similar to the Black Bear. It is green enamel with animals on the side. I can not find info or a photo of it anywhere on the internet. Photos attached.

Thank you SO MUCH!
:)

that is the first f-118. that stove is a work horse! i have a buddy with one in his basement and he all but heats his whole house(2000 sq ft) with it. i have seen then on ebay for around $500. it really depends on condition. are the burn plates in tact? the baffle?

Oh my, that looks an F118 in cherry condition. Nice find. Can you post a picture of the interior of the stove and of the back? If they look as good as the rest of the stove, it should get a good price.

You can go to woodmanspartsplus.com and look under manufacturer Jotul for a schematic, exploded view of the 118 which will show you if yours has all its parts.

Search Craigslist to see what the going rates for these are There are several 118's for sale in the Philadelphia area now. Best way to search Craig's is with http://www.searchtempest.com

To be more accurate - that is the original 118. The new version is the F118. Let's not confuse them...

Wow what a beautiful stove!!! Looks like new!

Thanks for both website suggestions. Had never run across either of these. The Craigslist search engine is pretty neat.

I had the same stove, but mine wasn't near as nice. Very good find. That thing will throw some serious heat!

Thank you everyone (this is great info!) ... attached are photos of the back and interior... any idea what it's worth now that you can see the interior?

Your photos show that it has an interior, but aren't detailed enough to judge its condition.

The bottom doesn't look quite right (should have wavy raised ridges running front to back). Nor do I see the heat shield on the side. Could that be one of the heat shields lying on the bottom? Again, check the exploded schematic drawing on http://www.woodmanspartsplus.com to see what you have inside. Click on the individual replacement parts to see photos of them.

Replacement side protector plates will cost at least $100 each.

To get really great pics you will have to lift the top off to let some light in.

Stove looks a bit rusty inside. The exterior may well be repainted.

Is the piece in the stove loose? I'm wondering if that is the baffle sitting on the floor of the stove? A straight on shot looking slightly upward may tell this. Exterior wise it looks excellent.

I don't think it's repainted. It's an enameled stove. The rusting is very minor. My 602 looks worse after an idle summer.

I understand that it's an enameled stove. But when setting a fair price it's important to consider issues like possible repaint, touch up etc.

Something can look great in a pic, and not so much in person. Just trying to give Nanestes a full perspective on issues to consider. If the side plates have been removed or replaced, the stove may have been burned quite hard.

No, it's the original enamel. It really DOES look great. The original owner purchased the stove new. The rust is from sitting in the garage for a winter. I'll take another shot into the stove tomorrow (as I have to move it) and I only weigh 125lbs. Could that interior piece have moved when the stove was moved and that's why it's on the floor?

Thanks!

Do you know if this stove has ever been used? It is in fabulous condition! If I remember right, the 118 has a 2 piece baffle, I believe that piece laying on bottom is the smaller of the two baffle pieces. I paid $200 for mine and it was in poor condition compared to yours. To the right person that stove should bring about $550 to $650.

Agreed, I was thinking of $750, peak season price, if the stove burn plates matched the outside condition. Look around the garage for slabs of cast iron that might fit in the stove. They might have pulled the burn plates to lighten the stove and make it easier to move.

Never saw that model before.. love the scene on the side of stove. Are you replacing it, selling it, keeping it?

The stove was used in the family room in the finished basement by the couple who originally bought it. They did not use it all of the time, just when downstairs and they had no children. When I sold the house I took it with me as it was so lovely but we did not have a place to install it in my new home. I am moving again (ah!) and am looking to sell it for the right price. All of the original parts are in it as well as some silver (aluminum?) double walled duct work, wall plate and some other zig-zag looking metal pieces -- as I am the only person to move it (with help!). I am not an expert on stoves but know it is a gorgeous Norwegian stove. (I lived in Sweden for awhile.) Trying to set the right price. From what I had seen on CraigsList for used Jotul Black Bears, prices had run from $1200 - $850.

I suspect the units you are seeing on Craigslist for that price are second generation Jotul F118CBs. Normally this stove would go for about $3-500, depending on condition. In this case, if all the parts are there and in good condition, then I would think that you might be able to get up to $750 at this time of year to the right person that recognizes the stove, but I would be flexible. It would be great for this stove to go to a person that really knows what they are getting and takes good care of the stove.
