I woke up this morning to a chilly house. The stove is my only heat source. The burn pot was overflowing with pellets and zero fire. I cleaned out the pot, and restarted the stove, but there was no glow from the igniter. Made sure the igniter hole was clear with the vacuum, and tried again. Still nothing so I called englander and they are sending me a new igniter. How often does this occur? I bought the stove in May I think.

Go get some firestarter gel and fire it up. Just make sure you put enough on to get it going. Others say a torch works but I haven't used that. Mines out and I have no desire to replace this year.

Already done.:) I used the torch to start it, but I got the gel to make it easier.

How often was your igniter having to light the stove? Mine died this year too, but I was using it a lot due to using it to repeatedly turn the stove on and off from February to April this year, and again from September through November (when it quit). Since then I've started running it differently. Hopefully it will not wear out as soon this time.

Just replaced mine this year (4th season). Seems you didn't get too much usefulness out of your first one...hope it's warranty. Did the torch thing while mine was out. Worked o.k. but prefer the igniter...

Davey, can the EP stoves run on both Hi-Lo and On-Off?

If so, I'd run it on Hi-Lo for most of the burning season....will save the ignitor. I only run On-Off during early shoulder season, and switch to Hi-Lo for the bulk of the winter.

Yes, they run both ways. Ran On/Off until I burned out my igniter, now have it on hi/lo. Fan speed doesn't change, but the pellet feed slows down when the thermostat hits temp.

My igniter went as well after 4 months of on-off operation so now i'm running hi-low until i get the new igniter
I do have to say I use a little more pellets on hi-low but I find it's harder to controll the temp in the house (it gets too warm)

I don't think the igniter should go that fast although i wouldaccept replacing itevery 2nd or 3rd year, the other problem is that the room air blower is noisy when it runs all day and i didn't have that problem while running on on-off probably because of more heat

Yhanks
Dan
