Hi ,I was wondering if i installed the inverter in my car and ran a 50ft extension cord to the pellet stove would there be any type of problems? According to my ups the load during start-up is at 310 w max and then it drops to 180w .
Thanks
Chuck

Thats a good question chuck p, I have a 1500w inverter in my car but had never thought of that possible usage. I would think the only problem you might encounter is the car running out of gas.

I ran a 700w microwave and a small refridgerator on mine when I was on the road and ran the refredgerator 24 hours withoug running the battery down (of course I added an extra battery) so while I cannot say for sure I just don't see a problem unless you don't use a heavy duty extension cord. I also have a 150w alternator in the car but I still don't see why a 90w alternator shouldn't do as well for your application.

Depending on how far away the car is will determine the line loss of the extension cord, that is why I suggest a heavy duty cord.

Good luck, Robert L. Wichmann

Be careful what inverter you use to run the pellet stove. Most are square wave (PWM) outputs and should be sinusoidal wave. A square wave output can cause problems with the stoves motors.

The pro watt is a true sine wave inverter.

Thats a good inverter. How much did you pay for the inverter?

The pure sine wave you have would work fine if you're saying that your stove only needs 310 watts to start up then cuts back to 180 watts, you shouldnt have any problem. As was said use a heavy duty extension and it should run it fine. I have 2 brand new 1500 watt inverters, I bought a couple years ago, but I cant use either of them because it says Modified Sine Wave on the box and I wouldnt want to risk it. Pure Sine wave inverter is the only way to go when it comes to running pellet stove due to the delicate electronics on the control boards.

They are 153.00 for the 600w and 260.00 for the 1000w on amazon

I beleive the control boards will be just fine, it's the motors that cannot handle the stepped signal.
