Any of you who have them , what is the size of the plates ,in inches please ? Thinking of making my own.

I would like to know as well... I have a 2004 model, will they even work?

I just got some from Breckwell today. They do not recommend them anymore as to many user failed to adjust damper to allow for less airflow which caused more problems. However after several email exchanges with the tech department they offered them to me. I have included 2 pictures of the plates the left plate has a 1-1/2" notch cut out of the corner. Both plates measures 6"wX4-1/2"h. In the second pic you can see the bended tabs to secure to the ceiling and prevent plates from falling behind the firewall. Breckwell recommends trying one side or the other first. "Most times both plates are not needed".

I'm intrigued by the comment to not use both plates since my stove came with both. I've always had problems with the burn pot getting full of crud and eventually backing up but attributed that to my learning how to run it and with buying Maine pellets last year.

Any thoughts on which one I should remove first to try??

Last night I tried them both and had poor results, they restricted flow too much. I removed the left side plate thinking that increasing the air flow on that side would increase the heat output from the left side of heat exchanger. My stove did produce more heat than it has in the past. Due to bowling tonight I will try removing the right side tomorrow night and reinsert the left side. Will let you know how it goes.

Ok I'll bite... Anyone with a picture of them installed? I don't see in mine where they would mount.

Do they some how hang from the exchange tubes to direct the heat more efficiently? am I over thinking this one?

You'll get dirty but reach your hand up on either side to the top (recommend turning the stove off first) and outside and you'll feel the metal go up but then drop out, the plates sit on top of that opening. I'm not sure if you can even get a camera in there to get a picture.

I'll try removing one of my plates and see if I get better results.

My burn pot gets filled up with crud , and My stove does not have the plates. From what I have read the crud comes from heating and reheating the ash over and over.
