The CD model has double doors. Left glass panel stays perfectly clear, bottom right of of rightside panel becomes lightly sooted after several burns. Gasket passes dollar bill test. Any thoughts. I first thought I was not burning hot enough or wood was suspect but neither are true. Cause for concern or not?

Have you contacted Kozy Heat about this? I'm surprised that the other Z42 users haven't responded, but it's a busy forum.

We are in the process of having a Z42CD installed and had only one fire so far. The initial smoke, before things got going nicely, did seem to be "drawn" to the right-side door. I't's like the air that's supposed to wash down the right side isn't doing so, at least not at first.

When this is done and we are using it regularly, we'll pay close attention to this and see how it goes.

I have the Z42CD with double doors. I have never noticed that one is worse than the other. When I first start the fire and there is smoke you can clearly see it washing down the doors. It usually clears up in 1-2 minutes. Recently I started lighting the fire and leaving one door cracked open about 1/2". This leads to almost no smoke and gets the fire going a lot quicker. I watch the flames and crack the door until they are jumping around and make a wooshing sound. Works well. If you close the door or open it too far, you will notice the flames get lazy or normal.

My doors get awfully dirty, but I think that's because the firebox isn't very deep. I always get logs rolling off the stack into the doors. Then I get black marks on the doors. I wish the firebox was about 6" deeper. It's plenty wide, just not deep.

i have the z42 (installed beg of september, burning it daily since mid october) with single door. The lower right corner of the door definitely gets dirtier first but only gets black when there is a smoldering fire in there for a long time otherwise the whole thing stays pretty damn clean. oh and cracking the door definitely helps starting.
