Ready...The last time you posted the weather report I laugh.....Not this time....lol

eF me runnin'!! I'm dead nuts center and we are already burried!

3 cord stored away here last month. I learned my first year that digging wood out from under a tarp covered with 30" of snow and ice was not for me.

To the south of us and it can stay there.

To the north, and it can stay there.


That being said, after last year and the snow we had, I don't envy you guys at all.

I would love a cople days in the shop!

I just read that full forecast! 5-10' ,,,, FEET in some areas including whats already on the ground! Looks like we could get the full meal deal, SUPERSIZED! We already have 4-5' on the ground now!

Geez, I better get out to the shed and get the snow shovels and put oil and gas in the snowblower. I'm in the "slight" band, but this is weather in New York.... totally unpredictable.

Last year I went to bed with a forecast of a dusting to an 1/8". Woke up to 18" of wet heavy snow. Almost destroyed the prized 1960s Chestnut Pal wood/canvas canoe I intend to restore. The temp shelter busted apart and a center leg went smashing through the bottom, taking four planks and a rib before it stopped. Made my first ever winter portage... to the canoe rack in the back where it should have been in the first place.

In my defense, I had been sick as a dog with Swine Flu and just trusted the weather report. Never again.

Lee probally got a snow cat around there somewhere. If he could only find it under 20 foot of snow?

I quit answering the phone Saturday. It's been slow anyway.Usually is with Christmas coming. Won't pickup till mid January now. Fine with me, I'd rather not fight this crap anyway.

Middle pic is enough to make ya sick. Hey, new project!! Fix the old project.

Looks like it will miss us entirely here in Connecticut. Too bad, I actually like a nice snowstorm on a weekend- it's a good excuse to stay at home. Don't like snow on work days, as it makes for a very long commute.

Actually, it ain't all that bad, coulda been a lot worse. With all that snow in there (several hundred pounds) it could have busted clean in half. We actually had to bail the snow out with a cut-down bleach jug, just like it was full of water. Don't know if that's ever been done before in the history of canoeing. These things are pretty repairable, one of their strong suits (low weight ain't one of them). Those busted planks will be cut out and new segments fitted and clench-nailed in place. Better than new, but not quite original. I'll stain the new wood, and you'll only see parts of it between the ribs on the inside. Hardest part of the project is in getting the whole boat sanded fair, then canvas stretched on, then several coats of filler applied, then 4-5 coats paint, then the interior varnished with 4 coats of spar (sanded every other coat), then new gunwales fashioned and screwed in place.... you get the idea.

I thought she'd finally be safe strapped to the canoe rack tucked behind the new shed, but last week I went out and the entire canoe rack with seven canoes strapped to it was on its side, blown over by those freakish winds we had the day before. Luckily, not a single boat was damaged this time.

Battenkiller, you have me worried. I have one of those cheap tents, mine has 4 poles. I can tell with even a small amount of snow the tarp really sags. I guess you are saying I should take the tarp off!?

Looks like I'm 50 miles or so SE of the storm. I'm looking forward to trying my new ATV plow, but.....perhaps with a 6" storm first.....Cheers!

I'm only in the slight area. I'm mad about it, I want mass amounts of snow!
