I've been burning in my F400 for three years now and never had a problem, a great stove. Tonight I loaded as normal and went away for a bit, when I came back the fire was raging, stove top thermomater was pegged at 800+ , I quickly turned the damper all the way down and noticed the lip just inside the door was glowing a bit. What does anyone think I caused any damage to the stove and what should I look for? Thanks in advance.

Look for warps or cracks,But I don't think you did any damage. You should be fine, Just keep and eye on it for a while

Thanks the stove seems fine. I've heard about parts glowing but never seen it on my stove so it made me nervous. It burnt down enough now I inspected with a flashlight and everything looks good. I'll keep and eye on it. The reassurance from someone else is what I needed. Thanks again.

Sounds like you'll be A-OK. From what you said, you caught it pretty quickly. It's amazing how fast the temp can spike when the conditions are right.
