I have a Jotul 450C fireplace insert. It says in the manual that I can remove the top air-injecting baffle plate for cleaning the chimney. Well, I can tip the front edge of the baffle up. but how do I remove it? The manual says to slide it back and down, but it is already against the back of the stove.

Yeppers, I figured it out. The manual apparently had a bad translation. You slide the baffle sideways, not forward or back. You raise one side as high as it will go and all the way to the side. Then there is clearance to drop the other side past its supports.

Removing was not too bad. However, it did take two strong men, kneeling side by side, to replace it.
