been running my US stove company 5510 king stove for 24+ hours so far. its running great, still no bad pile-up in the burnpot. prevously it would only run for less than 8 hours sometimes and i would have a really bad buildup of unburnt pellets/ clinkers in the burnpot. closing up that ash pan is the key to acceptable performance. i dont really care about the ash pan anyways, the burning performance is far more important. now i will just wait until the stove cools and use the shop vac with the filter bag. if they were going to design such a poorly made ash pan, they shouldn't have put one on this stove at all. makes a huge difference that its not sucking air in. by the way, i actaully get a decent amount of heat in heat range 2. room temperature in the living room is 75, lol. i keep the temostat at 74 when im awake so the rest of the rooms also reach a reasonable temperature. granted its not that cold outside right now(35 degrees), but its still a noticable improvement in performance(i'll have to see how it plays out if it gets cold again). im finally extremely happy with this stove, thanks to reading this forum.
im hoping i can burn less pellets now and get better heat out of what i do burn. i think its running more effienctly if its not filling up the burnpot. before it would build up so bad the pellets would spill out of the pot and end up unburnt in the bottom of the firepot, and abouse waste of expensive pellets.
next im going to try instant heat pellets. the juniata pellets i have been using arent terrible, but they are typically too long. i think smaller, more consistant pellets might work better. i bought 2 bags of tractor supply instant heat and im going to try them out. i would also like to try dry creek, but i dont know who sells them. dry creek is a local company with the mill local in arcade. i love to support local companies when i have the chance.
