Good afternoon all. I purchased 2 tons of the Maine Woods Pellets yesterday. I will be receiving delivery on Thursday. I bought some of these last year and was not happy with them. BUT...This years batch is different. I have read many reviews and everyone seems very happy with them. Plus, I will be paying $199 a ton. FREE delivery too. I want to support the local business. Steve Barker at SIB wood pellets are running a hell of a deal. I know I'm taking a risk here. I've done my home work and I will taking a risk. If you live in Maine ...check them out ...... sibwoodpellets.com or call them 207-645-3064

So wondering how you liked the Maine Wood Pellets. I just bought 5 bags but haven't burned them yet

Took a cue from Jay, bought some first, then went back for more! I bought 3 tons from SIB, that was after I had bought my 4 tons of Energex at $30 more per ton plus delivery. These new MWP have less ash than my Energex. Heat seems about the same. Plus SIB gets truckloads in every week and keeps them inside.

I won't receive them until this Thursday. So I can't tell you much about them yet.
I am currently burning Green Team pellets I bought at Lowes back in the spring of 2008. I like them alot. But, I want to support the local businesses. Unfortunately all the pellets made locally sucked. I was forced to buy LG's,Oakies,Rocky Mountain and other pellets. I am quite confident these pellets will work out fine.

Steve gave us a few bags to try last Spring. After burning those decided to give Maine Wood Pellets a 2nd chance!
Ordered 4 tons and have been pleased. They burn as good or better than the New England pellets out of N.H. (Jaffrey)
Have done one cleaning so far and noticed that the amount of ash/small clinkers under the burn pot/igniter is almost non-existent.
Ash pan was a little over half full after burning around 1/2 ton. (Guesstimate!!)
I wipe the ash from the burn pot a couple times a day. (Anal about that I guess) Could easily go 24 hrs.
Heat is very good.

Article about Steve and his business in the Waterville Sentinel last week. His prices are the lowest. I think the article stated that his costs
are not covered by the selling price. He is creating a good customer base and moving many pellets. (Over 3,000 tons)
So, if the folks at Athens keep the quality where it is and Steve can keep his prices competitive, next years' order will be going to him.

Thanks, I wanted to New England Wood Pellets but price and pick-up or delivery has me looking at other pellets. I'll try the Maine Wood. I found a store locally that says they only sell the best because they are locally owned and they want no trouble over wood pellets. Pellet customers are an active group so I'm confident that Maine Wood will work for me. Thanks for your comments.

Did you guys see the article in the KJ about SIB? He's been a popular guy this yr with the 199/ton and free delivery... but the article mentioned that he's operating at a loss to do this, and is building up his customer base this yr w/ this deal... My only worry for him is how many people are gonna stay loyal to him next year when his prices go up to actually try to make some money.
