It's about 12 degrees and there's a blizzard going on outside. We have about 10 inches of snow and counting with 25-30 mph winds. The temperature range the next two days is supposed to be -15 to 3. We're in the lower level family room with the T5 - it's comfortable in shorts and a T-shirt on all three levels (79, 76, 72) - makes the cold beverages taste even better. That might dip a little when the temps stay below zero but not worried about it at all. furnace has not been run at all yet this year. Just wanted to share with an audience who can truly appreciate it.

WE LOVE OUR WOOD STOVE!! :wow:

Good to hear it's working well for you. That's a smug feeling when you're in your tshirt and it's 12 deg. outside.

Blizzard outside, frigid temps, and you guys look cozy as hell. Gotta love it! And you're right, that beer always taste better when the stove is roaring. Enjoy!!

Yeah, I guess smug is accurate - it sounded sorta negative at first ;-) but when I actually double-checked the definition I guess you're right. Maybe part of the reason I posted this was because I wanted you guys to share in my smugness. I went back and read through my first post https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/56209/P0/ to refresh my memory on the process I went through with you guys to get to the T5 to effectively heat our entire house. I started at the TL300 and the gracious, knowledgeable folks on Hearth objectively helped guide me down the right path (you're at the top of that list BG). I didn't follow all of the advice but I certainly heeded it. In the end, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out....it's nice when everything works out as planned, or better than planned. So congratulations Hearth.com, you have smugly contributed to our smugness and happiness!

Smug Alert! :cheese:

You've got a good reason to be snug, smug and happy. It's a great feeling to be able to thumb your nose at the cold weather.

PS: Have you seen the South Park episode about the smugness of hybrid owners? It's hilarious.

PS: My mom used to use this expression when we kids were particularly proud of an accomplishment. No negative connotation meant.

I haven't seen that episode, but the clip was hilarious. I haven't watched South Park in a while, I'll have to add it to the DVR to-do list.

btw - quit sending the crappy weather to us, we've had enough snow already! Finally got out of the house this morning to clear the snow and noticed a drift creeping closer to my new chimney. Another blizzard with north winds and I might have to get up there to shovel it out.

Yes, I read the dome collapsed. Blame Hawaii! We're under their firehose right now; it's raining pineapples. Temps went from 41 to 55 in about 6 hrs last night. Since midnight we've had 1.5" of rain, lots of rivers are starting to flood with all the snow melt off the mountains + rain. Lots of mudslides too. And for our afternoon entertainment, high winds. Sheesh, winter here is schizty.

Happiness is a warm woodstove in middle of a blizzard . . .

Oh yeah . . . also I cannot tell you how many times I will wake up and think to myself "Brrr, it's a bit chilly this morning" . . . only to find the thermometer is down to 64 or 66 degrees . . . it's right about then that I realize two things. 1) 64-66 degrees isn't really all that cold when the temp outside is below freezing and 2) the fact that I'm just standing there in my boxer shorts and a T-shirt and complaining about it being cold could perhaps be due to what I am wearing . . . or not wearing.

I hear ya Jake. Woke up this morning to around 17-20 below outside. It was 63 on the main level which felt pretty chilly. Didn't really bother me because I knew it wouldn't last. It was 72 and climbing by time I left for work.

The last couple of years we would keep the thermostat (main level) at 70-72 and crank it up to 74 if we wanted to get tropical with the natural gas furnace heat. This year 70 is just too cold and 74 is just ok with long sleeves and pants. 78-79 is what feels comfortable now. That would have cost a lot of money, now it's basically free.

Very cool web site Rob. I just scratched the surface and have to get back to work, but will explore more later. I had never put much thought into vintage trailer restoration - seems like a really interesting hobby.
