Ok, we have a Lopi Answer insert, and had it installed in the summer of 2008, so this would be my third season burning with it.
Granted I am on to better wood than in years past, but once the stove reaches about 525-550 I am getting this smell that reminds me of hot plastic being molded.
I know for sure that the stove has been up to 625 or so during the first year we had it, thanks to the ice storm that left us without power for 10 days.
Could it possibly take this long for the paint to cure? or perhaps its some sealant that the dealer used when installing? (Don't recall this smell last year at all...and if the stove is below 500 I can't smell it at all.

Is someone using furniture polish or similar aerosol product in the same room as the stove?
Thats funny....I don't even think my wife nor I would know what a can of polish looks like :) ....we don't clean too much.
Anyway, its an odd smell....and the only thing I can relate it to is when I was a kid they had a Kids museum in Worcester, MA.....they had a machine in which you would put a $1 in, and it would make this plastic dinosaur, and it came out warm to the touch.
I'm guessing it is some sort of sealant that might have been used around where the liner connect with the stove...just really odd that it has taken 3 years to have this smell. (Its not like the smell during the first break in fires.....something different)

Sometimes dust builds up in the off season and causes strange smells. Once the dust burns off the smell should go away.
