Has anyone tried using a Lux mechanical thermostat (Lowes) with a Englander 25-PDVC? It is supposed to work with most 24v millivolt systems. My stove is keeping my house at very comfortable temperature (72 degrees on setting 1) but on very cold or windy nights it drops down to about 65 degrees. I am thinking if this thermostat works some what decent and can hold the temperature during the night time hours I would give it a try. I know it can not shut the stove off and on when the temp gets higher than the lowest setting but what happens? I assume it will just stay on the lowest preset setting of 1. Also I read that the stove should be set to 9 for both air and feed, does a thermostat change the air or just the feed rate?
As I said I am very pleased with how the stove is keeping the house warm now so I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on a thermostat and I’m thing for the price this might be all I need to tweak my comfort zone.

Thanks
Frank

Frank,

any millivolt stat will work with the Englander stove....mechanical or electronic/programmable. All a stat is, is a switch.

Quite a few forum members use lux stats with great success. Here's the one I use:

yes the lux millivolt/low volt stats will work with my stoves. ive helped a few customers getting them set up. thought about geting a programmable myself as we do not yet offer one. but yes as my friend above stated , any millivolt capable stat should function with our machines

Inferno,
Thanks for the reply. I figured it should work. Even if the temp gauge is not that accurate I can always mark the stat based on the temp my regular digital furnace thermostat is showing. About 9 degrees outside last night and so far I have not fired up the oil guzzler!

I know this is an old thread, but I found it when I was looking for info on a programmable t-stat for my 25-pdvc and thought I would post what worked for me.

I got a Honeywell programmable t-stat from Lowes (RTHL2310) for $25. Installation and operation were exactly the same as in the instructions from Englander for their t-stat, but with the added feature that the t-stat is programmable. So far, it has been working perfectly.

What settings do you have the stove set ( bottom 3)

4-6-1

Over the weekend when the outside temps were in the upper 50s/low 60s, it was a bit warm in the house, but only because it was so warm outside. Yesterday and today, with cooler outdoor temps, it has held 68 in the house all day long.
