Im sure its normal as the metal heats up but my f2400 will make loud tining, cracking, bell type noises till it heats up into the 500+ degree range. I had a large old buck stove with double steel welded walls , that was very inefficent so I replaced it with the 2400. The old buck didnt make a sound but boy did it eat wood lol. Im sure its normal for the metal to strecth as it heats up and it is a much smaller stove but I was just wondering if anyone else with a f2400 or similar stove makes the same noise as it gets to higher temps. The stove runs great so far and it is burning alot less wood and giving out good heat for a 3 bedrm 1200 sq ft home.. Glad I purchased the 2400 instead of the 1100 as the dealer suggested. Temps running closer to stove area in front of house in the 80s with rear bedrms at 67. Temps outside 18* nights 33* days. Snow 1-4" comeing thurs and sunday 1-6" ,,already had some on ground .Glad I upgraded when I did....Thank You... Mario in Hopewell Va...MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR....

Thank you for a answer and the link Bart ,,,I didnt look at recent posting before I posted.I need to look first at the postings as many of us using wood stoves mostly have the same general questions repeated, cleaning glass,ash-coals depth,,etc..But that is what makes this site so good that you all are willing to help even if its been answered a few times before....ThanK You All for all the help I have gotten in the past, present and future..... mario

Mario: I have the 2400 insert and couldn't be happier with the way it performs. This is my third year now enjoying the benefits of all the hard work of cutting, splitting , and stacking. It's work I enjoy! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Burning C...I hear you partner, some guys at work ask me why I bother with wood and all the work when I just had a new Carrier gas heater/ac unit installed in june 2010 and I should have gotten a propane gas stove instead.I tell them I like the work-out... I think its not really a huge money saving issue for my area as we dont really get as bad a winter as others do in the north west etc. it could be 18* in dec and 70* in jan....When you figure the cost of new stove and the time in finding wood, cutting, stacking repeat etc, etc,,,. There can be a savings after a few years and you gone past the cost of stove ?....Sometime I will have to figure the cost of gas per how many months vs wood ....Im 54 and it keeps cold air in my lungs and it lifts my spirit to see a fire burning good and hot and the feeling of warmth a stove puts out unlike gas heat even if it is WORK.. lol ...Ill enjoy doing it till I cant do it no-more...Thank you for the Greeting same to You and Yours.
