Two local suppliers have great prices right now. I've burned Somersets for the last 2 years & like them......but....... Kentucky Kernel's are on sale right now for $150 per ton.

Both have enough that I can stockpile the 4 tons I need for next winter.

I bought 3 bags of the KK's & I'm going to allow my stove to run out & give it a super cleaning & then run the test on the 3 bags.

Opinions please !

Thanks

Arnold

Based on my experiences with both pellets, I would go with the Somersets. They burn hotter.

So far (3 days in) Im liking the Somersets I got for 3.49 bag. Going in AM to get another ton before sale ends Sun.

Somersets it is !

After deep cleaning the stove & switching to the 3 trial bags of Kentucky Kernals, my Englander 25 EPI is an ash filled mess. Just 3 bags of the KK's made as much ash as a weeks worth of Somersets.

In all fairness, the KK's did make decent heat though.

Your mileage may vary................

I used Somerset's for one season, and they are very good. Very little ash, good heat, but my problem was lot of big hard clinkers, however I didnt mind those, since the pellets were buring so clean and hot.
