pin oak...aka?

Red oak family, so it'll be ready around 2020. :cheese:

I've got some pin oak 2.5 years dry, and it seems to burn okay even in my picky stove. Burns hot, and longer than most of my other wood. Hard to split when wet, splits okay when at least partly dry. I'd take it for $50.

Even though it'll take a while to dry once it's split,that's still a helluva deal.

Pin Oak is good stuff. If it is green now, it will need at least two years, probably three, in the sun and wind after splitting. $50 for a dump truck load cut to 16 inch lengths? Sounds like a killer deal. I'd take two or three loads for that price. Get it split and stacked right away.

I burn a lot of pin oak because it is so prevalent on my property. It is not bad to split at all when, actually pretty easy. And, being a red oak, it burns long and hot. 50 bucks for a dump truck load is a great deal. Why don't I ever find these deals?

Sounds like a hell of a deal, now I guess that all depends on the size of the dump truck, that being said it is Oak and it is bucked. I would buy it.

$50 for a dump truck depends on the size of the truck. Is it stacked in the truck or just thrown loose? In short, you need to know how much that truck will yield.

Pin oak, like others have stated is a red oak and very slow drying. I think it dries even a bit slower than most red oaks. I would not try to burn it until it has been split and stacked for 3 years minimum.
