So the installers showed up at 9:30 to install the stove. It was lit by 1PM. The furnace stopped running around 3. Ambient temp has been 70 degrees and holding since. That to me is nice considering the thermostat is behind a stairway in a hallway.

I am a bit nervous to run her overnight. Nothing, other than the wife, has given me cause for concern. What do you think?

congrats on the stove, they are great. i have had this 20 model for about 10 years and run it as much as possible, it wont take you long to get the hang of it. i set the fan on auto air 1/2 open for a whyle, engage cat then cut the air to 1/3. seems to do the trick . only thing with some new instals is burning off the new paint smell. pete

So we did not pack it up and run it all night, but it still had coals in the morning. Maybe tonight... Did not have to break it in - according to the installer and the owner's manual. If I do an all night burn, do I pack it up and close the damper down all the way? Or should the damper be open a wee bit? Loving this Model 21. Now I have to change my signature block...

I'm putting an addition on my home and I want a wood stove in it. I've been looking at Buck 21 and 81. With my addition and high ceilings I think that I may want the model 81. I like the value that the Buck stove has and appreciate that they are American made, and even in our state. We also have a dealer here in New Bern so I can go directly to them for questions or concerns.

I'm conflicted because I really like the look of the Woodstock Keystone and I think that it's neat that they are tax free. Soapstone seems like a nice, quality, almost artistic stove to have in your house. The Buck is a great value and probably a little more economical. I don't know if I am sold on the fancy catalytic stoves yet either.

Did you get the model with the ash pan? Does it fill fast? Is it still warm in the morning?

I stopped into the Fire Place & Patio in Raleigh a few weeks ago to look at the Morso stoves and they weren't open at 2 PM on a weekday and their sign said they would be back by 3 PM. I didn't feel like waiting around though.

Get that big ole steel stove and enjoy. God was thinking of steel stoves when he invented trees.

We got the model 21 and love it. It is perfect for our small living room. I created a rather large opening to the kitchen that brings in the heat nice too. It wraps up the steps but does not go into any of the bedrooms. Not enough to be comfortably warm. I do not think I have fired her up all the way and am hesitant to do this until I get my laser pointer thermometer. But she gets real warm. If I had a larger place, I would want the model 85. I wish I got the ash pan. Not that I have had to empty it yet... Getting close...

Question - When should I empty it? It is over an inch of ash right now..

Thank you!

Firemedic...

Yes, she is still warm with coals in the morning... I got my stove from Charlie in Pittsboro. Where you at in NC?
