Blaze King Question

Can anyone help me identify my Blaze King? I believe it is from the 1970's. Notice it has a solid door, no glass. It has an electic blower/fan on the lower backside, a warming knob and what must be a flue handle. The front has two wood handled arms that twist out to open the door. On the face are three ceramic/porcelain decorative plates. I used this stove once when I first bought the house 5 years ago and it worked great, but I don't buy firewood hence I don't use the stove. I want to sell this stove and pipe, but I don't know enough about it.

I have attached a picture. Thanks to anyone who can offer their thoughts.

I've never seen a BK with blue ceramic plates. All the old ones (that I know were from mid 70's) had the orange/yellow plates. Looks like a cat bypass lever on the side, and then the thermostat knob. That's the first one i've seen where the blowers blow through the top of the stove. I've seen the old ones that blew through the sides.

Can you post a pic of the inside?

I think it's newer than 1970's.

Looks to be in good condition from this picture!

Is there a metal info plate on the back of the stove?

Looks just like my old 1987.
I didn't have the cat though.
I just sold a set of the blue ceramics to a member here...plus a another set of orange/yellow.
Could you take some pics of the inside..especially the inside top?
I have a glass door for that stove also..someone on here wanted that also..but lost track of who that was.
If that stove is as good as it looks it should be worth 500 imo.
I just paid 3200 for a new one.

Welcome to the forum Sue.

Yeah its an old early King. http://www.blazeking.com/manuals.html for an owners manual for it. I wud look it up for u but I am pressed for time this morning. It is a cat stove btw. Has handle on the side.

Looks quite similar to this one I found while looking for a used one. Blaze king

I contacted Blaze King about it and they told me to pass on it. "Buyer beware" is was he told me. I guess they put out a ton of heat but with that came a ton of emissions. The model I looked at was not EPA approved because of the emissions. I believe it was something like model KFF-402 built right around 1980.

I am looking for a door ceramic in the orange/yellow. Just recently missed a set on eBay. Could you refer the person you sold that set to, to try and contact me. It seems like nobody makes them anymore and they are very hard to find. I am new to this site in hopes of finding a set. Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you all for your responses. Here are the additional pictures of the inside and the back (no door that I can see). If anyone can let me know any more information about this stove or what your thoughts are about it, I will be grateful. I will be selling it shortly and will be glad to not be totally ignorant.

Thanks so much,

Susan in Portland, OR

There is a skinny metal plate on the top of the front door. It's too worn for me to read well though. I can make out a few of the words but it appears to be all instructions for use.

Thanks for the photo, Sue, it's nice to see a bit of history.

It's interesting how similar this looks to the current models.

My neighbor has the same stove and her place was built in 87. It is not an EPA stove and it makes the smoke to prove it. It does keep their 1300 sqft house over 80 on even the coldest days.

Never mind..I looked the pics over again.
