I suggest finding a trapper to take care of the problem. It will only get worse if you don't limit the population. On a side note, ask the trapper if you can have the meat from the beaver. It's actually good.

Those are really good pictures - and I bet a mammalogist could tell from the incisor marks.
On trees that i've seen beavers chewing on - seems like they chew deeper into the wood - and that the teeth marks look bigger.
although that was a good point that someone made about porcupines chewing further up in the tree as well.
