A nearby stihl dealer where I bought some parts told me he just had a regular customer trade in 3 saws. One of them was an 026. If it checks out ok, what would be a good price for it? I am looking for a little bit bigger saw in the next few months. thanks

Pristine cosmetic and 150 lbs.+ compression......... I would maybe consider up to $275

On the other end, a well used but decent runner $150.

Good saws for what they are designed for. I put 5 tanks through my 260 today limbing some hickory tops up to the length of the bar (16") and it did pretty well. Light and snappy with the muffler mod.

+1 on that. 026 is one of the best small saws I have used. I would have to see a very good example to pay more than $250.00. You will not be sorry if you do purchase it, provided it is set up right and has been checked well.

IMO, $200 for a complete and good running 026 would be a good (maybe a little high) price from a private party. Expect the dealer to charge quite a bit more.

Probably around 200 max. Remind him that he will get to fix it if it ever needs it.

What were the other saws?
edit. I changed my mind, i upped my max offer, lol.

I swapped one in good shape for a nice MS 290 that I had 200.00 into, & like it for limbing & light cutting. Handy little saw. For $ 275.00 I'd want a nice saw in very good condition. A C
