The REAL benifits of burning wood.

It's all Set and burning between 500-550 surface temp right now. Putting out great heat. Tomorrow night when we get home from Grandma's house, I'll pop "The Polar Express" into the dvd player we'll all sit back on the couch and watch it together with the wood stove burning away. It's such a simple thing but it makes me feel like I have everything.

You DO have everything.

I have traveled many roads since 05, It is nice to hear someone keeping it all together. I as well feel a comfort and safety in our home that I have not felt since 95. Congrats to you!

Not sure what the 05 reference is but I agree with the point of this thread. I used to "bide my time" in the winter waiting til spring to "live" again. Now, there's a reason to like winter. In fact, I just told my wife last week how warm and cozy our home is in winter with her, the 4 cats, and the wood stove blazing on the hearth. It's a beautiful thing

Oldest daughter calls home from college to tell me how it never really gets warm in her apartment. My wife is doing a word puzzle and the dogs are curled up in the stove room (although one of them has moved on to greener pastures). My son's do a pretty good job of keeping the wood bins filled and I still love burning the wood. although tonight We are watching chick flicks. Well...can't EVERYTHING.

its nice burning wood !!and its not so nice paying for fuel oil i am not gonna be in this house next yr.... the cost of heating this place with fuel oil is too much! i only rent this house and moved in Nov of 2010 and the land lord should of put in natural gas line up to this house when the POS fuel oil furnace went down... after 3 days we moved in they did not want to pay the extra cost for the natural gas line and they were going to have propane gas hooked up to this house and they called me and told me its $1,000 to fill the tank up i said no way!! i just gave them $1,150 to move in with deposit and rent they end up with a new fuel oil furnace good thing we do not have a lease just month to month they are only renting out this house because they can not get what they want for this house they have tried to sell it for 2 yrs the cost of heating this place is crazy300-500 a month full time on fuel oil i been running it at nights and its just under 200 a month and i have for the 1st time run the stove 24 hrs and it was a pain to get up every few hrs to make sure every thing is ok i don wanna wake up dead lol i know for sure i will buy me a brand new wood stove in the next house I'll buy and make sure the place is rigged up with natural gas lol

When you get a new EPA efficient stove you will no longer have to get up ever few hours to check it. I can get 12+ hours sleep with my Harman and still wake up warm.

i know and that's what i hear lol i am not gonna spend bunch of money on some one else house for a newer stove i sure do plan on getting them when i buy me a house
