Does anyone have any input to share on these two kinds of pellets? My Lowes pretty much sucks for pellets...... they had "Tree Cycle" <---(I think) awhile back and now have these two for $298 a ton. I missed out on Stove Chow at my local HD last month for $187 per ton because I was just beginning my pellet scouting. I ended up getting "Harwood Heat" for $224 for a ton at my TSC. I only bought one ton because of the mixed reviews I read on here. Supposed to be Hamers but saw a few complaints.

BTW, awesome place you have here! So glad to have found it!

Whoh....$298 a ton???????

For the $$$ Lowe's wants for them they can keep them, especially the Infernos,

My Lowes here has pellets for $5.97/bag so yeah, the $298 sounds right. I won't pay Lowes prices when I can go to a specialty store and get Wood Pellet Co pellets for $5/bag that I know burn well in my Quad. I have been lucky enough to find Stove Chow here at HD for $3.97/bag or $187/ton and am almost thru my 1st test bag and LOVE them so need to get to HD for a ton before they are all gone!

Are you sure about that price?? All HD and Lowe's in MA seem to be at the $187. Even if it is $187, everyone basically will tell you to stay away from Inferno!

They are definitely $298 a ton at my Lowes. I just called a Lowes 30 miles away and they have "Nations Choice ?" for $4.35 a bag / $217 ton. I also just found out that Home Depot got more Stove Chow for $187 so I think thats what I will get.

Thanks for the input.

CHOW CHOW CHOW

Run (do not walk) away from the Infernos (AKA Inferiors)!!! :ahhh: Worst pellets we've seen in a LONG time. Nature's Heat not so great either.

I agree with above posters....get the CHOW!!!! IMO, the sleeper pellet of the year, at a price that is hard to beat.

As always, get 2-3 bags to test burn first.

$300 a ton for Infernos?

A car salesman once told me there is a a$$ for every seat. :)
I am sure there are plenty of people that are buying them at that price and don't think twice about it.

******ouch******

check to see if your lowes has Green team, a week ago went to a lowes in mass and found 5 tons so i bought 2 tons that day for 3.74 bag, 187$ton and yesterday went to same lowes and all sold out, love them but now they are hard to find as of late it seems, but ;-) if you cant i have heard good things about stove chow from the pros on this forum so thats a safe choice.

The only other bags that Lowes has is Sommers or Sommersville or something like that. The guy in the "seasonal department" told me that his particular location gets whatever corporate sends them and they will be selling it for $4.35 no matter what brand. I'm definately grabbing some of that Stove Chow @ HD. Oh, btw I cant test a bag cause my stove isn't installed yet.

I went to home depot today to get a vent kit , while I was there I spotted their Stove Chow stock..... there was stove chow as far as the eye can see .....well, almost.

Yep, that looks like my HD - about 20 tons of Chows sitting in the garden area, with 5-7 tons scattered on pallets throughout their store. $187/ton, I bought a ton there this past Saturday to top off my stash for the season.

I have also used Pennington Nature's Heat pellets and have 0 complaints about them, bought them for about $4/bag at Sam's Club. Walmart also stocks them for about the same price per bag (~$200/ton). They don't burn quite as hot as the Chows, but they burn clean. They're considered a "premium wood pellet" just like the Chows.

Just tried 2 bags of Maine Choice from Lowes in Augusta, Maine, seem to burn as hot as cubex, a little more ash. But for 187/ton vs 260/ton for the cubex, I think I am sold.

I used the somerset pellets from lowes and they are great. With the 10% off they are $169 at ton. got 8 tons last week so i am good unitl 2012 sweet!!!!!!!!!

I purchased 2 tons of Stove Chow at $187 a ton from Home Depot. I have to say I was a bit skeptical, but they seem to be burning very well. I have tried a number of different pellets over the last few years, and I think pellets work different in each make of stove. Some expensive brands have been horrible, yet the less expensive are better. Go Figure!
