Central/Southern maine
tried a couple bags of the Maine Woods pellets from lowes, $187.00/ton picked up. Hvae been using cubex, left the stove on the same settings (stove temp mode low as possible, blower on high, feed rating 4 ) noticed the create more ash, but as far as heat output goes, they were just as good as the cubex. Anyone else use Maine woods?

Are you sure those are Maine Woods they were selling Maine's Choice the last I knew?

Chud,

I ordered two tons of MWP from Steve @ Wood Pellet Warehouse in Jay, Maine for $199 per ton delivered. Unfortunately I couldn't find any MWP's locally to try, so I took a chance. I don't have a truck or trailer, so the delivery option works great for me. Everything I have read about the latest batch is positive, so hopefully I will be happy with me decision. They are being delivered this Friday. I picked up some Stove Chow at HD to get me through until then. I will report back when I burn some.

I think the Maine's Choice are a decent pellet.... especially at $187.

I'm buying them for next year.

Yup, you're right, Maine Choice, going to refill my coffee now! Any experience with them?

Can't help much, burned 3 ton last winter, but they were pre - fire production. Was pretty happy with them. Was gonna get more this year after they got up and runnin', but didn't work out, ended up with MWP instead, pretty happy with them, too.

Ordered two ton from woodpellets.com last spring. I burned a few bags in November, they were pretty warm, but a little more ash than say the LG's I am burning now. I can live with a little more ash. As long as the warmth is there.

Had my downstairs at 73 yesterday AM and the upstairs bedrooms at 69-71!!! And not a drop of oil..Gotta love pellets!

Granules, LG are outta Quebec. I got them at pellets.com last year four about 265/ton... I think they still have some on their website.

I burnt Maine Choice all last season @ $249 a ton (picked-up). Had to clean my stove about every three days do to the ash, but the heat output seemed OK. I think at $187 a ton that's a good price provided they were stored properly at the store.

This year's "Maine Choice" is a good pellet. $3.74 a bag!
By far better than the "Nature's Own" Lowe's was selling this fall.
"Nature's Own" is crap fuel with low heat, dirty, high ash and produces amazing chernobyl-like cinders.

Tried Maine Choice last week from Lowes and they burned ok. Good heat output but definitely more ash than Maine Woods. For the price, hard to go wrong.

I love them, they burn hot and produce only a few ounces of ash per bag. And @187/ton the price can't be beat.

I have burned almost a ton of maine choice and a ton of maine woods this season. The maine choice have alot of ash, it builds up on my glass airwash vents and blocks airflow, and can form up and cantilever out of my burn pot.(harmon). I havent been able to make it a week between cleanings. they make the stove knock occacionaly( I assume breaking pellets)however, the heat is good. The maine woods I clean my stove every 2 weeks and could go longer. they are a much cleaner burning pellet. If the price is the same I would go for the maine woods, they also smell better! Locally I can get mwp for 199, or 187 more maines choice. I am glad I have 2 more tons of athens sitting in the garage!

Buy local.
Its just my two cents, but isnt one of the main reasons of burning pellets to keep our money from going overseas?(and over the border)

Hello

I got a couple dozen from Lowe's in Salem NH at the new sales price below, I would burn them anyday for this price!!

MORSNOW - I noticed the ash also (we have a harman), I just scraped it off a couple times a day and had my feed rating on 4.5. I think by scpaing that off and cleaning off the top of the back of the burn pot, I could go a week between cleanings.
