Went to the local Lowe's today to order 5 ton of Stove Chow. Guess what? No more Stove Chow AND they've raised the price from $187/ton to $205/ton.

They have two other brands but I have no idea the quality. The MOD I talked to said one was iffy at best and the other (don't remember the brand) was so new there hadn't been much feed back from customers yet but the little they had was positive.

I guess I'll have to grab a few bags to try out.

Just may have to wait for next fall and see what the prices are like. Oh, Well, live and learn.

PS HD has the same brand for $187/ton so have to check it out.

Robert,

The Tractor Supply in Taunton, Ma has Stove Chow with a sign that they will beat "Anybodys" price/ton.

Not really sure what that means but it might be worth investigating if you want to make some calls to your local TSC.

HD in enfield has lots of stove chow, decent pellet not sure of the price per ton but i did pickup a few bags last week to try, paid 3.97 per bag

Worth a try, do they deliver? Even one ton would have to be delivered. I'm looking for 5 tons.

Our local HD only has some off brand but still $187/ton +delivery but I'll have to try a few bags first.

Thanks, people, for the ideas.

It happens to the best of us.

I buy per bag as i use it to heat my shop when im out there. When i need some pellets, the TSC never has any, or i miss them being on sale.

Our Lowes carries Potomacs at $5.97/bag...didn't price a ton cuz I didn't want Potomacs. HD HAD a butt load of Stove Show Saturday and Penningtons...tonight the Stove Chow stash was slim....still plenty of Penningtons. I asked if they had more Stove Chow in the garden center and he said they just got another truckload in today. May have to break down and buy a little storage shed to put outside the back door so I can stash a ton! I'm really liking the Stove Chow...clean burn with low ash and great heat output!

Like I've been saying, IMO, they are the "sleeper" pellet of the year. Get as many tons as you can afford/store for this year and next......

Stove Chow not available in my area or I would grab enough for the next 2 heating seasons...

No stove chow here in southern nh either.
Most hd's only carry the freedom fuel crap that's loaded with corn.
Some carry fireside ultra, but in limited quantaties.
I think leftover from last season.
I've had really good luck running the Maine's Choice from lowe's.
Anyone know how the fireside ultras compare to the Maine's Choice ?
