Not even quite mid-January and I went to The Home Depot for pellet starter gel.

A store worker took me to two different locations in the store as they were moving heating appliances and accessories to make way for the Spring inventory.

No starter gel at either location. Clerk said, " As strange as this may sound, starter gel is out of season and will not be restocked."

Went a mile or two further to the local stove shop that stocks "essentials" year round and bought some.

Regards,

Ranger

Ever try hand sanitizer? Same stuff way cheaper.

hand sanitizer works great i work for a company who makes it. I can't keep igniters in my stove so i use fire starters that i get from tsc, it takes a bit to get the procedure down but worth it.

Hearth Shop prevails. Also probably quicker in and out at the Hearth Shop. Most importantly, every time I go into Home Depot I end up with a tool I dont need.

Orscheln (farm supply store similar to the old Tractor Supply) has it,not sure of there's any in your area though. Lowe's or Menards might be worth checking also.

Some Home Depots ditch their seasonal Winter supplies sooner than others, my own local HD seems to keep their fireplace section going strong until April or May, which is about the time that our Winters are over here in Western NY. A coworker of mine bought 2 tons of pellets for $200 late in the season last year at Home Depot (though I can't remember the brand, I think it was Freedom Fuel), when they were trying to get rid of their stock in early April.

its not the safest stuff but i use just regular grill starter fluid,,

I won't go into HD or Lowe's until the weather breaks and Spring is actually here. I can't see selling flower bulbs when the frost in the ground is a foot deep. Never been a big believer in getting ahead of the game....

Hello

Lowe's told me that they are getting two truckloads of Maine's Choice in this weekend for the sale price of $3.74 per bag which maybe till the end of January.

However their pellet stoves and electric fireplaces were scrunched together in one row to make room for the Barbecue grills. Must be hard to barbecue in this Blizzard!!!

After January when the sale ends do they plan on giving them away or just reducing the sale price some more?

up here is canada home depot quoted me $6.75 a bag for pellets i can get them at Tsc for $5.25 a bag so that is where i am going
