FYI, if I remember correctly, this "wunderkind" store was formed by corporate types who thought they were going to make a killing by buying out a bunch of mom and pop operations and then doing things the "big business" way.

This is all off the top of my head, but I seem to remember hearing they were trying to hold Jotul hostage, etc........and maybe they even ended up dropping the line!

It was something like that, anyway!

The original shops which they took over, Black and Finest Kind, were some of the best operations in the country when run by the original owners.

Article in the local paper BDN states 3 stores closed and filed for bankruptcy.
The Bangor store where I bought my Quad had a name change a few weeks ago, must have sold the store before the filing.
The other 3 stores are in southern Maine. Pellet stoves are not in demand I assume.

Yes, It was in paper here today also. Heard on the news the other day how some people prepaid for stoves
and now are out of luck , no stove, no refund.
Went to one of their stores once and they had quite a selection
of products, very impressive, but seemed expensive.

The article in the BDN was from the PPH. They share articles these days.

Last year I was in the Bangor store to buy some pellet vent, wanted more than retail, went across the river instead.
