We will need to order some more pellets shortly since we are about to run out and I was wondering if anyone in the Southern NH or Northern MA area can suggest any good pellets. We are currently using Cubex and there is so much ash in them! My parents used them last year and said they were awesome but this year not so much. They are having the same problem with them this year too.

So last night we went to the tractor supply store and bought a bag of instant heat and lignetics to try. Also saw on woodpellets.com they have LG which I have heard good stuff about. Seems as though the hamer hot ones are good too with some stuff I have been reading but I can't find them! If you have a brand you really like can you please mention where you got it so I can try them out? Thanks!

Osborne's Agway in Hooksett, NH has Okanagans which I've had great luck with and better
than the LGs I got from woodpellets.com. Also, the customer service at Osborne's is as good
as it gets.

Okanagan from Osbourne's Agway in Hooksett - $259/ton
Vermont from Hearthworks in Hooksett - $269/ton

These are all I burn, love them both, low ash, high heat, clean stove.

With a 10% off coupon then HD or Lowes is 168 a ton. So, are the Okanagan worth the extra $90 - $100 more? That's about 27 more bags or 13 days of extra heat for me.

Cyr lumber in Windham NH (Salem line) has Spruce Pointe for $269 I think.

Yes.

After burning 2 bags of Inferno I have no tolerance for crappy pellets.

I haven't cleaned (besides pulling the ash off the front of the burn pot) in 2 weeks of burning Okies; There is a small grey spot on the glass and a little, fine, grey ash in the rest of the stove. My P68 is keeping my 2500sqft very comfortable at just less than a bag a day.

Vermont where are you getting these from. I live in vermont

Hmm I have been wanting to try the Okanagans after reading a bunch of good reviews but did a web search and couldn't find anywhere that sold them through the search......maybe I'll have to stop by Hooksett on one of my days off to grab them! Anyone know about the Hamers Hot Ones I think they're called? I heard some good reviews for those too but couldn't find them either.

You can also get the Okies at the Osbourne's Agway in Concord and Home and Hearth In Hampton

they dont have spruce pointe but have warm front. also they offer free delivery which is awseome

Maine's choice from Lowes for 187/ton. They burn plenty hot for me, and only a few ounces of ash per bag.

Well I stopped by Agway in Hooksett today to get the Oakies. Now I am anxiously waiting for the ones in the hopper to run out so I can try them..........

Stop in frequently, they occasionally have Customer Appreciation nights where EVERYTHING is 20% off. Plus they are good people.

Hmmm do you have any idea when the customer appreciation nights are or is there any way to find out in advance? Thanks again!

Hello,

We Do NOT recommend the Freedom Pellets at Home Depot. I noticed they have a big sign outside the store advertising a price drop. We have a Harman insert and an Avalon free standing. The Harman is very tolerant of pellets, but these created black soot and totally clogged up the Avalon, which is more particular about quality.

Yea I haven't heard too many good comments about the freedom pellets so I won't even bother trying those. I just put the bag of oakies in about 10 mins ago so hopefully they will work great. I still have to try the other 2 bags I bought at tractor supply too.

Oakies= :) :coolsmile:

I've been disappointed in Maine's Choice from Lowe's. Lots of dust, ash, and clinkers. Bought in two different stores, so they were probably from different production runs, but experience with both lots was the same.

I have heard this about this years crop of Cubex....very surprising considering the control they have over the sawdust used to make them. It has been my experience that Cubex were the best hardwood pellet out there.
That said....I have since switched to softwood pellets...they seem to burn better in my Harman.
If you are looking for a supply of them in North Central Massachusetts....you can try Acton Wood Pellet...got my Vermonter's from there for a fair price...

Yes, they did but each truckload of 20 pallets that has come in has been different each week!

They had Inferno's, Greene Team, Maine's Choice and the latest early this week is Curran! The Curran is a mix of soft and hardwoods!

I do like Greene Team the best of these!

They also moved the pellets from Lawn and Garden on the right side of the store to Lumber on the left side of the store, just to confuse us!

Don, how have those Curran's burned for you? I have a bag of Greene Team
In the hooper right now, most likley a Fireside Ultra chasser.
My local Lowes in Hooksett is still out, but they say 20 ton is comming in today.
Question is what kind? I've had good luck with the Firesides, and the Greene Team.
Worst case scenario, I go to HD across the street, and pick up some Energex,
or Fireside from them. Guess I'll just have to deal with the bad lighting.
